| Given his team selection for PNG, same as the game vs The Kiwis, then for me he needs to go.
Can’t believe the likes of Williams isn’t getting a game and also that Austin isn’t getting a run at 6.
Even more bizarre why call a lad up late, fly him halfway round the planet and then not pick him despite only having 1 fit winger in the squad.
I really really think he is taking the mic now to be honest.

| Its a complete disgrace if Handley has been asked to fly all the way put there only for him not to play.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| I think he’s doing it on purpose. Blake Austin had a bit of a mare last week but the effort was there, I’d rather play him that Widdop or Hastings alongside Williams for the last test.
I thought the whole point of a last read rubber test match was to play players who hadn’t featured? He needs to go, he’s taking the Mick.

| I have defended Bennett, quite recently in fact and still maintain he took England forward from McNamara. However this GB tour has been an absolute shambolic showing from start to finish. Team selections, tactical output, interviews with the media. All that lays at Bennett’s door and for me it’s been that bad that it warrants a parting of the ways for GB and England. I still maintain he’s a good coach but for whatever reason it just hasn’t worked here and it’s really tainted his reputation. His position is untenable and there’s no way around that.
The aspects out of his control is the marketing, advertisement, social media presence, fixtures, venues, crowds and I’m sure someone could add a few more to that list, and that responsibility lies with the IRFL. It’s looked more like a Community GB tour than an actual GB Lions tour which is an absolute disgrace. There was an open door to walk through, an easy win and once again RL has managed to walk into the bloody wall to the left of it.
We keep saying changes we could make to SL to make RL more popular but it counts for absolutely nothing if, internationally we don’t pull our fingers out our ears and stop whistling pretending all is well.
As for the next England coach there should only be one name on the candidate list and that for me is Shaun Wane.

| But the truth is before the next World Cup there’s only the ashes series for a new coach to get his teeth into,it’s time the sport starts taking international rugby far more seriously that’s where the cash is after all.

I'd want Wane too but there's a big assumption there that Wane wants the job. He's left rugby league and one assumes it would involve a paycut compared with Scotland RU.

| Part of me thinks Wane would be the perfect choice, part of me thinks we’ve had 2 coaches in succession with no attacking flair and we need to go for someone who doesn’t just play the percentages.

| Daryll Powell would get us playing footy and moving the ball more than either Bennett or Wane would, but would it win footy games against the Aussies,Kiwis and now Tonga?
I am bored to death of watching GB/England under Bennett (5 drives and a high kick up in the air in wild hope) as it is turgid to watch and thh will we ever beat these sides by playing to the NRL's strengths as Bennett wants us to play?
Wane would motivate us without a doubt but you lot hated his style of footy at Wigan

Listening to him on recent podcasts I think he’d snap their hands off for it. He came across as wanting a return to rugby league to me. He’d also only working for the Scottish Rugby Union on a one day a week consultancy basis isn’t he? His per hour wage may go down but a full time contract with the RFL would surely earn him more?
He strikes me as a guy who’d find it the ultimate honour to coach the national team and money may not be a factor.

Not exactly the norm here and I don’t think it’s been done before but could he not do both? The England job is hardly FT (despite me wanting it to be) and he’d have more than enough time on his hands to do his other work. I accept that’s like a “not sure about that” kind of proposal upon first reading but it could work.
I’m with you on SW too. I think he’d want the job but he also will be bearing in mind that a poor international showing will do nothing for his NRL ambitions, if anything it will close off that avenue completely. And on the flip side an international success story will boost his chances. It’s a huge gamble on his part.

He’ll need something like knocking the Aussies over to get a crack down under IMO. The longer he’s out of league, the further away his chances of an NRL job drift I reckon. They just don’t respect the game over here enough to give a British coach a chance and he’d need to knock the door down.
I hope we make the job full time again tbh and I’d want a man like Wane working from the top down to the England academy teams, aligning how we play, like he did with us here at Wigan. I’d also want him to avoid the sort of bias Bennett has shown towards his comp and to do that he needs to travel around England and Australia and watch as many live games as possible. Any coach we have should know the ins and outs of each player in his squad and he should have total faith in them. I’m sick to the back teeth of Bennett’s attitude that the rest of the squad need to come up to the NRL players standards. Bateman aside the NRL lads have been dreadful on this tour but then so have the vast majority of players. He seems oblivious to what happens over here in the UK.

| Idiotic to leave him in charge for the last game. At least let Watson have a crack and give the players a free reign to play SL style and throw the ball around and at least try to salvage a touch of pride.
I have never rated Bennett as the messiah of coaching. He made his name when he had the best forward pack in the NRL steamrollering teams and the best set of backs in the NRL using their individual skills to put the points on the board. The players he had at his disposal were once in a generation in almost every position.
He should of retired 7/8 years ago.
