| Quote: Cherry.Pie "Edwards comments certainly don't seem like the comments of someone who is committed to the cause and looking forward to the challenge. It's almost as if he sees coming to Wigan as a brief hiatus from his proper job - the job that he really wants to get back to. Maybe I'm being cynical, but I can't help but think these comments are more of a 'come and tempt me' plea to England rugby union.
We might as well forget this charade now before it goes on any further. Lam 'doing a year' at Wigan is fine because he's the interim coach, but a so called permanent head coach who sees it as 'doing a year or two' (he supposedly has a 3 year contract??) isn't really taking the whole thing seriously at all.
We already pretty much know that Lenagan was lying when he said he was searching all over for our next head coach because he then said he always wanted Edwards. He's basically gone out of his way to try to tempt Edwards regardless of the suitability of other coaches available - and it seems like he's really had to sell it to him and still Edwards isn't fully buying it.'"
It's not England...It's Wales top job that is about to be made vacant, that Edwards has made no secret of wanting.

| Nobody has brought up the possibility that there could be a clause in Edwards contract enabling him to get out of it.

2553.gif I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league

Wales have already appointed their next head coach, Pivac I think his name is, guy from Llanelli. Pivac has then started appointing his assistants too so whatever is turning Edwards' head (if true) isnt anything to do with Wales.

| There is no opening for him with Wales, however it is widely believed that Eddie Jones will leave his England role after the World Cup meaning there will be a vacancy at Twickenham. Wouldn’t surprise me if the RFU deliver a gold plated contract to Warren Gatland and Shaun then. Perhaps we’ll get Eddie Jones in exchange, he’s been a guest of Mr Lenagan’s at the DW a few times over the years...

The way I remember it he was paraded on Northwest Tonight (or whatever it was called back then) complete with a meat pie and a happy Uncle Mo only to then turn his back on us

| I hope Edwards does come as it will be nice PR and a boost for the game - he’s one of our sports legends and we need to find homes for legends.
On the other hand, I have always been mildly bemused by the desperation from Wigan fans to have someone who hasn’t been involved in the game for such a long time as head coach. I can see it ending badly to be honest.

Whether he can coach RL or not, we certainly don't want a flake running the team. And that's the way it's looking at present.
I don't understand why he would say the things he's said recently, after parading himself on telly as our next coach, without offering some kind of qualifying explanation.
After rock-steady, multi-trophy winning coaches like Wane and Maguire, I'm not sure I could stand to have someone in charge who has such little self-awareness.

The other attention is from Wasps RU.

I think that it was announced on Grandstand??

| I was told the same, I deal with the owners of PAS and they know a lot of the Welsh RU players, very much likely he won't take over the reigns from the information the lads are privy to.
Personally, I won't be too upset, he was never likely to be a massive success. We should recruit Ian Watson asap and give him a long contract!

Watson? All he’s done is avoid relegation and if that’s where you set your sights you’re easily pleased. I’m still hoping Edwards comes but if he doesn’t, we need a far bigger name and far better track record that someone who’s only achievement is not being relegated.

| Chris Chester wouldn’t be a bad shout. Don’t forgot Lam hasn’t done anything previous to this job, only came with good reputation due to being a class player for us

Whats this obsession with Watson? It would be the most dismal signing ever and show a huge lack of ambition.
People should not be writing off Lam just yet. There is still a chance that by Easter we could be flying and carving teams up. Remember nothing is won in the first few games, and they were all against top opposition.
