It's by Aussie fans to save face or by non-Wigan fans to diminish the achievement.

| By jot taking it seriously I mean it's a big effort to get them to play the game witb UK clubs often having to front a retainer, with big names often missing. And the constant will it happen won't it happen scenarios. More so when it was 3 teams.
I am always happy when uk teams are victorious, but when they do come over to win they do. Your wcc wins and widnes' in that era were great and deserved. But there was a series when Wigan saints and wire all played and all got beat.

| Quote: Cruncher "But that's an assumption, not a fact. And it's an assumption you choose to believe because thus far your team hasn't participated in this fixture. When they do, and it won't be long - maybe as soon as next year - and you have an actual interest in seeing what's in front of you, I predict that you'll consider it a much more competitive match than you suggest.
Don't buy into that Phil Gould-esque claptrap.
I've been to all the Wigan WCCs, and on no occasion, with the possible exception of 1991, did I feel the opposition weren't giving it a big shot.
I'm not pretending the NRL isn't much stronger than us overall, but we can often match them on the day in single fixtures. It's a crying shame that so many British fans are either so dazzled by the NRL that they live in denial of this, or are so determined to play down the achievements of rivals that they prefer to promote the fictional negatives.'"
Not atal, I want any UK side to beat the convicts. Love for us to be in it but the more recent competitions have been missing a lot of their big name players there is a reluctance to travel from them. It's notable that we have not won a wcc when travelling to oz. (according to wiki tho I thought u won over there) You can tell when they're interested as don't turn up to the UK a few days before. I think that it would be better penciled in for a week or so after both finals with it alternating between being played in UK and oz

We beat Brisbane in 94 over there in front of 54k. Quite possibly our greatest achievement in history.

I thought so, I was in hospital n WiFi was slow n morphine e was kicking in thats y I referanced wiki.
I in now way mean to detract from teams that ha e won the wcc, especially the games like the brisbane game vand the widnes Canberra game, Bradford when they won there's too these wrre fiercely contested games. I probably mean the more recent wcc series n subsequent games I just feel that the nrl teams are not that bothered about it as It is a hinderance to their pre season and they don't ridk their stars.
I like the format I think that games like this should be on everyone's to watch list irrespective if who you support. I cannot attend due to a recent injury (broke 9 bones in foot yesterday) I remember watching warrington play Australia when I was younger the international game was much stronger. Regular tours. I think this also fed the Australian desire to compete in the wcc in that time now soo nrl n beating nz are their prioritys. Let's get that gb shirt back out there home nations is OK when therss no world up or nz Australia South islander tour.

Have been to all WCC matches played in Aus and that indeed was the match to remember. Brisbane had a great side but Wigan coached by John Dorahy triumphed with Shaun Edwards being man of the match. Goal kicking by Frano Botica proved decisive.
Good luck against Easts.

16304_1526976105.jpg [size=100:2md8k3b3][b:2md8k3b3]'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.'

Hardaker or Isa to centre if Sarginson can't go then.
