I think the fact that we had two very good young halfbacks in Harry Smith and Callum Green coming through may have influenced that decision.

Fancy either to break through?
Seen bits of Harry Smith this year and he looks a good player but don’t know a great deal about either player.

Noticed he’s been scoring try’s out on loan at Swinton recently as well. Only downside for him is that’s hes another winger.

Old, experienced head, good leader, good skills - similar to Bryan Fletcher in that regard. I know he made a few errors but with Bateman leaving and Lockers being Lockers, we are going to need some leadership in that pack.'"
Isn’t he on a long term contract at Catalans?
It’s a complete NO from me anyway on this one. Maybe when he first became available all those years ago I’d have jumped at the chance but he’s getting on now and is coming towards retirement. I don’t see how he would offer anything to the club tbh.

| Pretty sure Bird signed a 5/6 year deal on what I guess are huge wages, he’s a good player, great in his day but at this point it would be a huge no from me.

| Bird seems to have suffered as many injury problems as Lockers during his time with Catalans anyway.

Drinkwater was on around £120k @ Leigh, don't know if you see that as a suitable wage or not

Definitely. I'm a big fan of both, Miller especially who I feel is very underrated.

| Not sure about Miller.
I like him as a player but feel he needs a good controlling half to partner with and I don’t think that clicks with Williams.
Toups is playing really well this year and would improve us in the centre but I think we could be aiming a little higher IF we have the cap space available.

| Tupou would be brilliant but the days of pulling top performing players from clubs like Wakefield or Cas look to be over. A few years back there is no way guys like Tupou, Fafita, Miller, Johnstone, Gale, Millington, Moors etc would still be at those clubs.

I still think a decent offer to some of those players by a club consistently challenging at the top would be enough to turn their heads. That might sound bullish and arrogant, and in a way I suppose it is but it’s true.
I’d love us to go for Fifita/Tupou/Millington personally.
