| Left Wigan at 16:45, awful getting through Scholes, however after that was a breeze all the way up to the M61 at Horwich, then all the way to the M61/M60 split.
Roadworks were a pain but instead of heading towards the ground I always turn left towards Eccles and park near the Police Station. Fifteen minutes walk to the ground and I was at the ticket office and purchased my tickets, food purchased and consumed all before the gates opened at 18:30.
On the way back home, brisk walk back to the car and was on the motorway within minutes. Home twenty minutes later.
Still don’t understand why so many people choose to drive towards the ground and park on that god awful car park!

| We played some really nice stuff. The link up down that left side in particular was fantastic. I thought Sam Tomkins, Farrell, Williams, Gildart, Marshall and Escare all had big games and they combined really nicely. Tommy was good at hooker, Powell was good on both spots and the props ran with some vigour.
All in all we’ll take it!

If everyone was able to leave Wigan at 4.45pm it would be a breeze but sadly not everyone can (that’s not having a dig at you but just facts with people working different shifts, family commitments etc).
Salford should be trying to make it as easy as possible for people to attend games but it seems the opposite sadly.
Just to tag on my father is waiting for an operation on his back at the minute so he had no choice but to get to the stadium car park (I fully agree with you for able bodied people though. We usually park at Eccles Rugby Club).

| Fully agree with the ridiculous decision to move the game to 19:30 on a Friday during rush hour. No wonder Salford cant attract decent attendances.

| Thought our lads were very good especially 2nd half.
Good well organised performance and some excellent tries. Most notable with not having Lockers out there.
Traffic a shambles.

| I took the advice of another poster and went down the M6 to junction 21 and followed the A57. I could not believe how easy it was from that direction.

| Really impressed by the attack tonight. When Escare came on he posed a constant threat and Sam was mercurial. Well done the wingers, some well taken tries but I still worry when I see how slight we seem in the backs at times.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Comprehensive win against a poor Salford team, I'll take that. Sarginson said it's only a precaution and he'll be ok for next week

Ha, it’s very quiet on here I must agree! If we’d lost there’d have been a 15 page thread on how the world is a terrible place to be!
On a serious note, we looked fast and slick with real fluency. We played Some great attacking rugby and scored some superb tries. It’s only one game though and to be fair it was against Salford. Bigger tests to come but great start. Let’s just hope for some consistency. Williams and Tomkins were outstanding, Long may it continue. There could be a lot of egg on a lot of faces if it does!

However, a number of electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

| One of our better first games of a season.
Have to admit that I felt a bit "meh" going in to this game, after the lack of off-season transfer excitement, but this game restored my excitement for the game.
Thought we looked OK in the first half, but very good in the second, after we switched Escare to FB and Sam in to the halves.
Have to say that Marshall was excellent - Set up 3 tries, and *that* kick on the run.....

| It was a good performance considering it was the opening game of the season. The attack was fluid in the second half and we really looked threatening. Salford were pretty poor though and offered little threat, while making our job so much easier with errors.
Sam Tomkins looked really threatening, particularly at halfback. Powell was less effective but it's possibly too early to make judgements just yet. The switch to hooker seemed to make our game worse and he struggled a little, but when starting the second half from hooker he was much better. Are we back in the position where both our hooker play better when they start games and are less effective when going there part way through a half?
The left edge looked back to it's brilliant best. Williams, Farrell, Gildart and Marshall linked very well, especially with Escare using his pace to put the defence on the back foot. Marshall had one or two shaky moments but his attacking play was sublime and I don't see why he should lose his place.
Davies on the other wing seemed to forget how to keep hold of the ball on a couple of occasions but took his try well and his carries were outstanding and seemed to put Salford on the back foot every time. Sarge was hit and miss but he's part of a new combination on the right edge so maybe it will take some time. His decision making seemed very suspect although he got the pass right to set up Davies' try.
Flower was excellent in the first half and hopefully him not returning was just a precaution as he definitely made a positive impact. Clubb is carrying on from where he left off last year and Sutton played well too and was aggressive in defence. FPN, Tautai and Isa were less effective but perhaps it was also to do with the change at hooker. I think Isa will lose his place next week.
I've been sceptical about Joel at second row but his handling was really dangerous on the right edge and created a few opportunities and half chances. His carries are a bit plodding and he doesn't look like much of a running threat anymore but his handling caused problems. Salford didn't test his mobility in defence much but he seems a better fit there than Isa and did a better job at getting to the ball to our outside backs than Bateman does (constantly cutting inside gets a bit predictable).
There are definitely more positives than negatives there.
