aboveusonlypie...
If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

So what you're saying is that you expect him to flourish now he's coming back to SL? I agree!

| He was clearly unsettled from the start and was still one of NZ's best players. Hope IL brings him on the pitch at half time against Catalan!

He never made it as big over there as Hall and Watkins, I'll admit ... oh, hang on.

| I've watched most games he's played in and to say he has been a flop is harsh. He had a bit of a slow start but once he got going he started playing some slick stuff. Particularly along the right side attack he set up quite a few tries for Conrad Hurrell. Ultimately he's playing for one of the "weaker" sides and the fact that he also plays alongside Shaun Johnson makes it hard for him to establish himself when he doesn't get used in the same way or anywhere near as much as he did at Wigan.
Granted he's hardly done a Sam Burgess and won an NRL title... but he has hardly disgraced himself. If he does come back to the superleague I suspect he will come back a better player for his experience over there playing some quality sides every week.

Yeh I agree with that. The thing is, last season the NZW were playing to systems which meant that Tomkins didn't get his hands on the ball in attacking positions anywhere near as often as he did at Wigan, where all our attacking systems were basically designed to get him in space. His return for tries and assists was still pretty decent with this in mind, and for a team that didn't even reach the playoffs. From the two games Tomkins has played this season it looked like they were utilising him a lot better in attack, and his injury has been pretty unfortunate because I think he was in for a big season.
I really hope he comes back to Wigan, but I hope he shows the NRL just how good he is before he comes back.

Just to confirm what's already been mentioned by others
Quote: "As part of the agreement by Wigan to release the England International to take up this challenge in the NRL with New Zealand Warriors, it is agreed that Wigan will have first option to re-sign him at a defined salary when and if the player chooses to return to Super League.'"

Good spot/well remembered/too much time on your hands?
It begs the question, did they take into account the pay rise he's had since being there? I think he went over on some £250k but is now on £350k ish. And would we have to pay back a third of the fee we got in the first place?
There must be an announcement pending

| With wigan having first option on him, could he still turn them down? Or is he contractually obligated to go there if they want him to?

From what i understood at the time he was contracted to us for 3 more years and that at the end of his NRL days he would comeback to us on a set wage already agreed. He was allowed to go to NZW with 3 years remaining on his contract and that he if he decided to go to another club in the NRL he would be allowed to do so but once he wanted to comeback to SL we have a set deal in place.
IL has said this in the last day or so
If he became available we would be very interested. So we’ll wait and see what happens with New Zealand

Not fussed what he can or can't do in the NRL. I'm fussed about what he could do for Wigan and what he'll hopefully do again against sides inferior to their NRL counterparts such as Leeds.
If he goes to another club in superleague I'll be gutted as they'll have signed the competitions best player.
It'll be interesting to see the reaction (back tracking) if he signs for Leeds! All the stuff that Leeds fans throw at him is just a cover up for the respect you have for him as a player and you'd all pee yourselves silly if he signed for you.
