he should learn from Mossop, do a few years away from home, bettering your game and use it as a springboard up (if you dont see your long term future at Wigan).
Or maybe Moz, finish your career off at your home town club, having been world class and get the final payday.

| Quote: DaveO "I think there is a huge difference between it being practical to drive home and being at the other end of the country.
I have done both living in London for 12 years before moving up to Chester.
London obviously the other end of the country and yes popping home on a whim out of the question but Chester was about a 45 min drive from my parents when they were alive living in Wigan.
I agree with Cruncher and the others of a similar view. If what you say is behind it, then it is pathetic. He doesn't have to be 90 mins away from home if he moves half way 45 min commute for a player is hardly the same as you or me having to do it to get to work for 9am.
As I said 45 min drive is about as far away as I was from my parents living in Chester with them in Wigan and this was no barrier to seeing them as often as we liked.
An RL players career at the top is a short one and if the wife can't put up with just seeing the parents/friends at the weekends for the duration you have to wonder. If it's that important he could no doubt afford for her not to work and she could pop over on a weekday as well if that desperate. If she can't cope with that, trade her in for a new model!'"
I absolutely agree, especially "If she can't cope with that, trade her in for a new model!" Surely she is not that stupid as to completely ruin his career?

I found the video someone mentioned, he seemed to take the ball up the middle a lot even though a lot of the time he was wearing No 13 and his tackling seemed very safe.
The last try he scored surprised me with the pace he showed, could be a very astute signing.

| Why didn't anyone actually READ what I wrote. I said the talk on the Hull board is that his WIFE/GF is homesick and wants to go back to friends and family NOT him.

I think you'll find that they DID.
It's just no one shares the opinion that a whining woman is a good enough reason to give up your career.
As far as excuses go it really is a poor one and if true the guy needs to grow a set and man up.

Irrespective of the reasons - leaving wigan will have a detrimental effect on his long term career but that's his choice.'"
Can I point out here that Westerman has been in the form of his life this year and will be a dead cert for the 4 nations squad if his form continues.
As for Taylor, the general consensus here is that a move to Hull would show a lack of ambition and ruin his career. I think that's a bit unfair on him and Hull tbh.
Firstly, this isn't Widnes or Salford, it is a big club with a good fan base, excellent facilities, an owner desperate for success, and 4 major finals in 8 seasons.
Secondly, he has already got a challenge cup and grand final medal, sure he'll probably win more of he stays, but he's won everything he's going to win with Wigan. Maybe he sees the chance to try and get his boyhood team winning trophies as a bigger and more exciting opportunity, and if he is closer to home and getting more money then it's win win. If he plays well enough he will still get international call ups and he could potentially end up an FC legend if he is in a team that wins a grand final for finally breaks the Wembley curse. Hull have underachieved for many years, but we do have ambition. Signings like Taylor will help us get where we want to be.

For Taylor to move to any club outside the top 4 would, imo, show a lack of ambition. Hull are nowhere near a team that can challenge for trophy's and dont seem to be doing anything to change that at the moment (although i do not your signings for next year). The only 'step-up' for him would be to go to the NRL (going to Leeds/Saints would be a sideways move)
He's also short a WCC medal which he would be very unlikely to get at Hull

The main thing he's short of is international caps and he's far more likely to get noticed and picked playing for Wigan in big knock out games rather then playing in a struggling Hull side.
If he goes then we probably need to take some blame as well. To pay a fee for somebody and only sign them up for two seasons is strange on our part. Our years option should see us receive some money back if he goes but I doubt it'll be what we paid.

Fair enough.
I think your assertion that Hull don't seem to be doing anything about their lack of trophies is misguided though. For years now we have splashed big money on high profile names and it just hasn't worked. Since Pearson took over his ethos has been good young English players playing alongside a handful of experienced players. He has pumped bags of money into our youth setup and it's starting to bear some fruit. In the last year or two we have brought through Crooks, Lineham, Shaul, Hadley and Bowden who are playing regular first team rugby and looking the part. James Cunningham is developing well at London and will be our bench hooker next year, Callum Lancaster made his debut last week and looked good, and in the England v France Academy match the other week we had 4 representatives.
I don't know what our recruitment is for next year, but I know Taylor is one of the signings, and it's strongly rumoured that Tommy Leuluai is another. Both would be very positive signings.
The big error of judgement Pearson made was bringing in Radford when he wasn't ready. However, Pearson will only stand for our current form for so long. A couple of weeks ago Will Hill published odds for Hulls next coach. Tony Smith was the 6-1 favourite. After 2 days betting was suspended, so read into that what you will.
Anyway, Wigan as a club is currently ahead of Hull in almost every aspect. However to dismiss a move to Hull as "career suicide" is very harsh.

| Hull FC are a big club I agree. However there is something lacking off the field that means they are way off their full potential. Maguire mk2 desperately needed for Hull FC to fulfill their potential.
