The fact that we've got the week off will help the crowd as it's potentially our last game of the season, evening kickoff on a normal day, like we're used to. None of this Thursday/Monday nonsense. If it's Saints/Wire, I'd expect to be well over 10,000.'"
our home semi is on thursday or friday night 26 or 27.hope its not thursday but it could be.

| We'll have the 2nd semi, as Warrington get the 'advantage' of an extra day's rest before Old Trafford. So would be Friday night.

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| Tony Smith said he would "happily flip a coin" if he was made to pick at the Club Call. All of a sudden, he thinks he's above the competition and doesn't need to comply. Surely to eliminate the choice factor, going with lowest rank is the best option

Check the RFL website and look at disciplinary section. Wella Huaki (sp) used an early guilty plea this week for a grade A offence and was fined £300 with no ban.

So did other coaches in the past but you have to get on with it. Everyone knows the structure and what finishing higher gets you so just get on with it! I agree that its a stupid feature but he can't change it so just comply

| I'd love it if Smith literally just sat there and flipped a coin at the press conference.

Not necessarily. Wire easily beat Leeds today, and if Leeds & Saints batter each other up next Friday, and Huddersfield stroll to victory over Hull, then why not pick the side who has had the hardest game.
I can see Huddersfield coming to the DW providing they beat Hull.

I agree. Smith now has an impossible task of making a correct call. It's going to be the most interesting club call to date
Huddersfield v Hull
League Leaders, or team who turned them over in the Challenge Cup at the same stage
Or
Leeds v Saints
Champions, or team with the best form coming into the playoffs.
All matches are going to be who turns up on the day from here on in.
Wane has played a blinder. Bitcon has timed his conditioning to perfection this year to date.

| If Wire chose Hudds over Leeds they would be seen to be 'bottling' playing Leeds considering that's the natural selection. What also may come into thier thinking is that if they have to beat Leeds at some point they rather play them at home than a neutral venue.

[quote="Headingley Rhino"]Great win yesterday at our place, there is no denying you are probably the best team in SL as you have proved it all year so I think it's justice done that you have got to Old Trafford. I thought wigan was excellent in the second half and showed why you guys are top dogs this year.: |

I don't know anybody who sees any point in the Clubcall feature of the play-offs, so what is wrong with Tony Smith actually highlighting the feelings of most sensible observers, rather than simply towing the line like some gormless sheep?
Hopefully, once Wire do the standard thing of picking the lowest ranked club (which is what we will do), then the authorities will finally see the folly of this ridiculous façade and finally get shut of it - Personally, I don't think anything embarrasses the sport more than that wildly over-hyped 2 minute spot on Sky Sports News, when the top ranked club goes through the motions of choosing the lower ranked side.

| Smith could see Leeds as his main threat and if they beat Saints decide to play them at home arther than possibly face the Rhinos at OT.
I would imagine he would fancy his team's chances against us, Hull or Hudds or Saints at OT rather than Leeds. Although no doubt Anderson thought the same about us before last Thursday.

| Smith has said he won't be involved but I don't buy that. He is using that as a clever way of deflecting any attention away from Wires selection so the opposition won't be able to use it as a motivational tool.
If they pick the lowest ranked side they'll be able to say that and if they decide on picking Huddersfield they'll just say they flipped a coin.
