I'm a Leeds fan. Replace Leeds with Wigan today and I'd have loved the game. Winning a Challenge Cup Final, effing awesome, however you do it.

But if Leeds had won today's final all of you lot would have been in agreement that the final was awful.

The 2013 Challenge Cup Final was excellent for Wigan RL. It was terrible for neutrals. Not really sure how it will have been for Hull fans, apart from the natural pain of defeat. It was a bad day for British RL. It would have been a great day for a RL hating RU fan.

I've seen worse England ru games then todays game. God knows how they manage to draw such big crowds to twickenham.

Of course it is, but then you probably can't remember what it feels like.

It chucked it down. The weather dictated the game far more than normal as it would whoever played but one side handled it better than the other. That is not an unfair summary of opinion on the Hull board either.

OFFS! You should try watching a game of RU in rain like that. I have. In Ireland and it was Leinster v Munster (huge derby) and it was a kick fest. What you got today with things like Charnley's tackle was 100 times better than that.

Bad day for RL? Well it might not have converted anybody but given the conditions how could it have been a better advert? What should both teams have done differently?

I can't remember what it feels like as a Leeds fan because I've never been a Leeds fan when they won the CC.

I CAN remember what it felt like as a Sheffield Eagles fan though.

Before the game I had an awful feeling of dread, I actually thought that that we'd have been better off not getting to the final because we were going to be humiliated.

Some time during the game, when we were winning, I actually thought it would have been better to be humiliated, because looking like we were going to win and then losing it late was going to hurt so much more.

I think the first time I thought that we were going to win was about 7 minutes to go.

When we won I was just in shock that they'd done it.

All the losing CC finals with Leeds have just been awful.

I don't think I ever gave a moments thought over whether neutrals enjoyed or hated any of my sides games in the finals.

It still doesn't alter the fact that the game sucked to neutrals. And being the CC Final, MOST of the people watching were neutrals.

I hate RU. I don't want to watch it. If I was forced to watch it I'd prefer to see them play badly so I could laugh at the awful play.

The RU fan would blame the rain too. And I'd tell them that the rain wasn't the problem, it was their ****ty game that was the problem.

Quote: DaveO "Bad day for RL? Well it might not have converted anybody but given the conditions how could it have been a better advert? What should both teams have done differently?'"

Wigan should have done nothing differently. They did what they needed to do.

Hull should have: 1) Turned up. 2) Realised that the conditions were terrible and played to those conditions. 3) Played like the Challenge Cup final was on the line.

There, the game would have been 50 times better than it was.

The real blame lies with rich men in suits, the men who refused to pay for a roof that completely closes and the men from st helens who introduced the worst rugby ball in the history of rugby league. Do you think these money leaches are bothered about the quality of a final at wembley? No they're counting piles of money.
The sense I'm getting from Wigan haters is that it was Wigans fault for the rain and it was Wigans fault for Hull playing so badly. Lets parade the bloody trophy around St Helens and Hudderfield inthe rain.

Wigan fan and Hull KR fans will naturally have enjoyed it, because you got the result and, Wigan the silverware. I hope it's enjoyed. I've got absolutely nothing against Wigan, and I'm honestly pleased for the fans.

But as a rugby league game, especially one representing our game in a cup final on TV watch by many neutrals and quite possible a good few it being their first game of RL, it was nothing short of a disaster of a game. The weather clearly ruined it and debatably this Rhino ball probably didn't help, but both teams especially Hull but Wigan were crap as well served up an indifferent display. It was incredibly boring, never got any flow, skill was just about absent although there are merits in the respective defensive displays. Without any doubt, the worst cup final in living memory. Apart from those who managed to get some enjoyment out of it by receiving the silverware it will hopefully be forgotten.

It was a poor game in all honesty, we just had to be there Hull were that suicidal. But hey, the cup isn't just the final, so as the only team who didn't screw up we deserve it and I'll take it!

Terrible game to watch, but it's great to win the cup. There's no need to defend the game, poo games are played out every year, it's just a shame we both saved it for Wembley. It definitely wasn't lack of effort, just a series of brain farts and the wet weather.

Quote: jools "Sorry - it was awful to watch from a neutral POV. Close it may have been but that was because hull çouldnt hold the ball and Wigan appeared unable to be creative despite all the possession and field position they had. It was a terrible advert for rugby league- not helped by the commentating. Conditions can't completely excuse it.
Of course Wigan fans wouldn't see it that way- neither would I expect them to as its a completely different kettle of fish when your own team is involved and you have something at stake. But it won't encourage any first timers to watch again- that should concern all league fans'"

Since when have you been a neutral? You have never posted a so called neutral post on here that I have ever read. Your raison d’etre is to slag Wigan, you would have found something to gripe about no matter what! If you really want to see a bad advert for a sport try watching (if you can keep awake) the dark side six nations on the BBC, now that’s real Mogadon. By the way have you been on the Hull board having a go at them? Or as per usual have you just saved it for us. Keep on you are about as effective at causing a stink as a fart in a hurricane, so ramble on.
