Quote: DaveO "Of course it is, but then you probably can't remember what it feels like.'"
I can't remember what it feels like as a Leeds fan because I've never been a Leeds fan when they won the CC.
I CAN remember what it felt like as a Sheffield Eagles fan though.
Before the game I had an awful feeling of dread, I actually thought that that we'd have been better off not getting to the final because we were going to be humiliated.
Some time during the game, when we were winning, I actually thought it would have been better to be humiliated, because looking like we were going to win and then losing it late was going to hurt so much more.
I think the first time I thought that we were going to win was about 7 minutes to go.
When we won I was just in shock that they'd done it.
All the losing CC finals with Leeds have just been awful.
I don't think I ever gave a moments thought over whether neutrals enjoyed or hated any of my sides games in the finals.
Quote: DaveO "It chucked it down. The weather dictated the game far more than normal as it would whoever played but one side handled it better than the other. That is not an unfair summary of opinion on the Hull board either.'"
It still doesn't alter the fact that the game sucked to neutrals. And being the CC Final, MOST of the people watching were neutrals.
Quote: DaveO "OFFS! You should try watching a game of RU in rain like that. I have. In Ireland and it was Leinster v Munster (huge derby) and it was a kick fest. What you got today with things like Charnley's tackle was 100 times better than that. '"
I hate RU. I don't want to watch it. If I was forced to watch it I'd prefer to see them play badly so I could laugh at the awful play.
The RU fan would blame the rain too. And I'd tell them that the rain wasn't the problem, it was their ****ty game that was the problem.
Quote: DaveO "Bad day for RL? Well it might not have converted anybody but given the conditions how could it have been a better advert? What should both teams have done differently?'"
Wigan should have done nothing differently. They did what they needed to do.
Hull should have: 1) Turned up. 2) Realised that the conditions were terrible and played to those conditions. 3) Played like the Challenge Cup final was on the line.
There, the game would have been 50 times better than it was.
