| Quote: Nogga "Its not the RFLs fault or Wigans fault, its RL fans in general thats the problem. I agree that the playoff system is not the best the way its structured but a lot of RL fans will look for any excuse. How cheap do people want it? We sold out last week which was a nothing game...'"
Well, 11k of those were ST holders, plus about 3k away fans...plus a lot went just to see the hubcap presentation.

That's the thing that always mystifies me. 11,000 pay a large sum to see games that are not as important as Catalans, then a large number of them decide not to go tonight.

| You've sold over 10k so far which is pretty good considering there are 0 away fans.
Then you will get the walk ups on the night.
Maybe they should have held the shield presentation until this week? That may have pulled a few extra in, but quite frankly when it's more than likely to be a repeat fixture in 2 weeks time, the fans are right to be picky about where they spend their money.
I'd prefer any combination of playoffs other than the current one
The original premiership system Straight knockout 1v8 2v7 etc
The old more complex system from Oz, but gave a distinct advantage to the top sides
Or the original SL top 5 playoff with top 2 battling for a direct route to the GF.

| We've only sold about 8k tickets according to E-ticketing. With walk ups on the day maybe 9k.

Probably because if we win tonight there's a very good chance they'll have to pay again to watch them play the same opponents, except that game will mean much more. Personally I don't mind, I go with mates so I'm only paying for my own ticket, but I can see why someone who is paying for himself plus wife, kids etc would swerve this one.
If we lose tonight I hate to think what next weeks attendance will be!

could do the top 6 so an extra mediocre team gets a game
week 1
game a) 3 v 6 - loser out
game b) 4 v 5 - loser out
week 2
game c) 1 v 2 winner to GF
game d) winner game a v winner game b- loser out
week 3
loser c v winner d - winner to GF
week 4
GF
highest placed team always gets home advantage

| I was going to suggest top team is crowned champions, but then that would probably count as me try to derail a thread.
My count from the website shows 10367 sold, so with walk ups it's not a million miles off what you would get for a league game, considering this is 70% likely to be repeated in a couple of weeks and last year it was 12k and that was a derby.

| Top 5 is easily the best idea IMO.
Top through to week 2
2 v 5
3 v 4
1 v Highest place loser wk 1
Winners from week 1 play each other
Final
No dead rubbers, a genuine advantage is gained for every place higher you finish and no repeat fixtures. Sky would never go for this though due to the fact that it reduces the number of playoff games from 9 currently to 5.
An alternative could be 7 teams
1 through to week 2
2v7
3v6
4v5 All straight knock out
Highest v lowest semis
Final
That one means no 2nd chances at all, but I think 7 it still too many.

| 9-10K I predict, if weve sold nearly 8k id say a 2k walk up is about right.

Could it be that those not in attendance actually believe that the weekly rounds are more important to them? Despite the brainwashing we get from the RFL and Sky I am delighted that the majority of RL fans in this country place more importance and create the biggest attendances for the competition that is by far the hardest to win, i.e. the LLS.

| Ah well, it will give Eddie another chance to have a go at us and then the dynamic duo can tell us how wonderful it is at the HJ tomorrow night to see a full house when there will only be marginally more there
If it took as long for everyone else to get their tickets for tonight as it took me the other day I wouldn't be surprised to hear a fair few gave up on the idea and decided to watch at home on tv
