| Quote: Geoff "Haven't seen the TV coverage yet, but from the big screen it only looked marginally late, and first contact to the shoulder. From the timing, I suspect it was a Ganson decision, though, not a Child one.'"
That is how it looked at the ground and watching back on the big screen. I was sat there thinking it would probably go on report but he'd probably be OK given the replay.
I was shocked when the red card came out.
Whether it was worthy of a sending off or not I doubt he would have walked without Gansons intervention.
What is certainly true is whether he was guilty or not it ruined the game. I had a hell of journey from Chester (just got back) and regardless of the result I basically did that for 16 minutes of a contest. The fact we stuck it to Saints despite the inevitability of the result was pleasing but when he went I was sat there thinking, great, a round trip like that for this to happen! What is more it looked to shaping up to be a real cracker of a game and that just changed the complexion of it completely.

| Wane and some |Wigan fans on here are embarrassing themselves.
It was high and late but the worst thing from my point of view was that it was done to a player who was facing away so could do nothing to protect himself. Mc Ilorum is lucky he did not cause a serious injury.
Absolutely the right decison by Ganson !

Embarrassing reaction, and every Wigan fan I talk to on twitter agrees with me.
How anyone can say that wasn't a sending off clearly needs to sleep on it and watch it again in the morning: clear red card.
Perry was lucky to stay on I have to admit.

If Radlinski reckons it was wrong, it was wrong. I haven't seen it back myself yet having been not long back but that is one man's opinion I respect compared to Ganson's.
The funny thing about sending offs generally though is most are technically correct but those doing all the moralising and sitting themselves on a pedestal of virtue know full well there is a huge level of inconsistency about decisions. And of course they always agree with every sending off of one of their own players
There was at least one incident in the game tonight more dangerous than what MM did. If people are so convinced MM was a red, why isn't the focus on the fact they were let go?

You can have your opinion, but it's definitely not a cut and dry thing just because people don't see it your way. The guys on the radio were saying it was a yellow at most, so it's not just Wigan fans.

The man is a legend. Ganson isn't.
There is another who thought it was wrong and that is Lockers - I am pretty sure it was him. When the red came out Finch had to restrain him from going over to Child when he looked like he would deck him. Given Lockers normally doesn't say boo to a goose I was quite surprised.

Phil Clarke said it was a red card, so it MUST have been
In all honesty though the majority (on here and twitter) seem to be saying it was the correct decision.

| One of the clearest reds I've seen for a while. A high, late swinging arm, caught Laffranchi right in the mush. I'm unsure where the argument is to be fair, and it's all coming from people who were at the game. Obviously didn't get a good enough view of the screen.

*team mate sticking up for team mate shock*
I'm not sure how you can keep commenting on this issue when you admit that you didn't see it or want to see it again.

I am basing my comments on what I saw at the game which since that is all I have seen seems fair enough to me. Lockers as I have often said on here is far too shy compared to Sinfield or Briers so to see him blow a gasket is way out of character.
I find it interesting though that you ignore the points I made about sending offs in general. You know that all those saying "It was definitely a sending off" have never disagreed with such a decision themselves in the face of others saying it was. From [iwhat I saw at the game[/i it was one of those that might get a red a yellow or nothing. It's yet another incident that makes the case for video refs at all games or at none because I am convinced it was Ganson watching it in slow motion (as no doubt you did on the replays) who made the decision.

Then why all the booing of the ref ?
It was very loud.
