| Put it this way.....if we don't get a 5 figure attendance on Saturday, we've sold more than Leeds.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go

The long gap between the rounds is stupid, but that surely shouldn't affect ticket sales?'"
Why? It would add another event to the RL calandar. The current semi-finals are total non-events, they actually make the sport look bad.
The only empty seats would be on the top tier IMO. If Wigan played in the first semi-final, would people not stay on to see who we will meet in the final? Especially if the other game involved big teams.
For the earlier rounds I would like to see all games involving a team from a lower league being played at the home of the lower placed team. The crowds at super league grounds are generally poor and the revenue and exposure for the smaller clubs would be great to see.
Wigan will have around 6k at the game while Leeds will have less than that. It is poor from Leeds considering they are only 26mins away from the stadium while Wigan is 56mins according to google maps.
We would have taken close to 10k had this game been at Langtree park IMO. This is the kind of game which should sell-out a stadium like that, but because of the planning from the RFL and the lack of marketing... this game will have a worse crowd than a regular league game between the two teams.

| The fact that we have only been given tickets for the lower tier behind the sticks and what 3 blocks in the side stand suggests we won't be bringing many?!
Wigan's stand behind the sticks holds just short of 4k (I think) then you've got the 3 blocks in the side stand.
EVERY time we've had a semi-final at the Galpharm we've been able to sell the upper tier as well as the lower. I spoke to loads on Friday night who aren't going because they don't want to sit in the lower section as the view is terrible.
It's going to be interesting to see if they open it on the day for the walk ups.

No but I'm led to believe we've out sold Leeds quite considerably. I'm not going into figures but personally I think our sales are very good considering it's over in Yorkshire.

29281_1270406980.jpg When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club.
We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens.
Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before.

Think you may have misread what I wrote there Bilks. We(as in Wigan) are being reported by Leeds fans will outnumber them(as in Leeds) by 5-1.

I just don't think we should be looking at a double header for a semi final. The games should sell themself. If Leeds fans won't travel to Huddersfield, why would they travel to Manchester? Also by doing that you are taking income away from the rugby league grounds that could have hosted a semi final.
I am often critical of the RFL but these tickets were reasonably priced and at a sensible location. The only thing that seems to be preventing a decent turn out is the attitude of some of the fans. I'm excited for this game anyway!

| Nobody has really mentioned the 5:30 kickoff time yet, i have a mate not going because he's got plans for Saturday night and a game that finishes just after 7pm and not getting back home until around 8pm has meant he's not able to go. Had it been kicking off around 2pm-3pm he would of been going.
Unfortunately though they're SOME not going because they say we might get ''hammered and embarrassed'', apparently the possiblity of 17 guys getting several tries scored past them can make them blush. And these 'fans' are usually the slighty older ones that often talk about the good old days when ''men were men''.

I agree that the attitude of RL fans is poor. That is why marketing these games is so important.
If the games should sell themselves, why should any RL clubs bother having a marketing team?
The pricing was spot on for this game.... but if Wigan can advertise around town, make TV adverts, put together a proper marketing campaign for their big games.. all on a lower budget than the RFL, then what on earth are the RFL doing to marketing the big games?
The GF is the one which sells itself. For Wembley and internationals they send info to people who are ALREADY RL FANS.... and for the magic weekend they do a decent job to get so many people to a failing concept.
The semi-finals have nothing.

Ah sorry. Definetly mis-read. Not quite 5 to 1 I understand but more for sure.

| We need to get our 5 in the morning and I'm guessing there may be a few more people who've not rushed.
Hopefully there's time for the crowd to become respectable yet.

Well it already is from our end. Leeds are letting us down. They have taken well over 10k to Hudds for a semi in the past. They will have around 4k for this one.
