| Quote: Geoff "Agreed. I can't help but feel that Pat would have scored those two tonight that were (rightly) disallowed. Lots of potential, but still a long way to go.'"
I thought he had quite a good game, but he does seem to make a drama of the last two yards to the line.
He once tried 3 sidesteps from a couple of yards out when it would have been easier to just use his bulk.
Also the one where he tried to dive in and his arm went in touch,he should have stayed upright and backed his size and weight to carry the defender over.
Only time will tell if he has the brains and foresight to be a centre,a winger is more of an instinctive player whilst a centre as to be thinking all the time.
This seems to be the case with Goulding,he spent all his junior years as a centre and now that he as the chance that grounding is coming to the fore.

| Yes he's made a couple of errors but he's still a young lad. I've seen more than enough already to know that his potential is absolutely massive. Can't wait to see him progress in this team. He's clearly a centre so at this stage im not too concerned about his finishing.
He will prove to be an excellent signing. Great start

| Gelling is far from the finished article but he has massive potential - this lad could be world class, he's big and quick enough to trouble any defence.
Really looking forward to watching him develop.

| He's a big lummox. I hope he does improve. Personally, I don't know why we've signed him.

| I thought he was top drawer last night. Scored a couple of decent tries (granted he could've had a couple more) but his work rate was pretty good too. Took a couple of scoots from the opposite wing to help out charnley and looked dangerous when he got the ball. He's only young, give him game time and he will improve.

| I'm a bit stunned at some of the negative comments on here tbh. He may have had a couple of extra try's in the last two games but the lads never been a winger and he's finding his way in the position. I just see a potentially top class player in this guy. He's big and athletic and has ball handling skills to die for. He's come over as a project signing who's raw and needs plenty of work but my word what a base he's got to build on.
His run and out the back flicked offload for Tomkins in the second half was sensational and I get the feeling we'll see plenty more of that type of thing.

| For me, it was between him and Goulding for MOM last night. He is really showing off his skills, I reckon he will slot into Carmont's centre position very nicely next season!

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| He is such a handful to put down. He has great feet for a big guy as well and some good pace. Can't wait to see him in full flight.

He was mine. Which says a lot for me because Fuzzy was outstanding on the other side

4916_1342356991.gif Rugby league must be a great game to survive the people who run it.
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_4916.gif |

| Think he is just finding his way in the team really and maybe lacking a bit of confidence which can be brought about by trying too hard sometimes. Couple of times last night he seemed to hesitate with the line beckoning but I thought he grew in confidence as the game went on and presumably he will now just continue to improve the more game time he has. Think us fans very often tend to expect the finished article from day one and unless it is a really well established player like Barrett then it's not likely to happen and Gelling is no different. Be interesting to see what we all think come the end of the season.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

This.... Gelling is a top athlete and freakish in his balance. Still young, rew, in a strange country, (yes i know thats of his doing, poor choice of word there), but he has shed loads of potential. I like the look of him, and can see why he was recommended. yes we want our youngsters to shine, but we also want the best, and if we can pick them up cheap as well, thats good work by the management team.

Think if he carries on the way he is he will make Stinky Turner / Paul Youain't eat his words.

| I really did wonder if we would see Gelling at all this season as the messages coming out of Wigan earlier on in the season were that he was very raw and one for the future.
Its pretty obvious from the above why they have him playing wing but my what a player we potentially have on our hands here. He looks outstanding at times granted hes made one or two mistakes but people have to realise he is a work in progress and one for the future.
A big test next week for him next week against Saints so lets not get too carried away however if he has a shocker lets not get on his back either. Hes a young lad just like Russell, King etc so we need to give him time just like we would for them.
