| I thought our 8 & 10 were very good. They were strong in tackle and didn't take a backward step.

| I thought I recognized the name. John Bateman played for Bradford against us earlier this season at home when we beat them 60 - 12.
Bradford haven't had that much luck recently holding onto their best young players, with two of the Burgess brothers departing for Australia, and that young FB leaving for Wire. Be interesting to see whether they manage to keep hold of Bateman.

| Bateman was outstanding today.
I also thought the number 8 and 9 were good also.
Ward the second row showed up a lot better in second half and Owens at FB looked safe.
Wasn't impressed by the 3/4 line though overall and Learmonth wasn't up to his reputation today but he appeared to take a knock so that would explain that one.

Was #10 Micky Learmonth ?
if so, he is only 16yo thats a pretty fair effort playing up front against older opposition. The interchange prop Greg Richards is only 16 as well.

Learmonth was indeed #10. He only did one spell and was warming up again in the second half but was struggling and didn't comer back on.
Ward was very good considering his injury problems.
Hampshire should have played 6 and Williams at 7.
Falepaini was probably AIS best but they should have been beaten has England showed more composure.

England lost the game after AIS scored their second-to-last try. AIS really put the squeeze on and we got a little bit panicky, it was there where the game went away. Far play to us though, we kept at them for the full 80, and were rather unlucky not to pinch it. I thought the Currie offload to Ward(?) was harshly judged forward.
Decent game overall.

| Learnmouth (sp) did ok in defence but thought Richards was pretty poor! To be fair though, thought the oz pack were pretty strong in attack and defence!
England's 13 Bateman was good! Thought Ben currie played well as did England's 12! But didnt think the 3/4 line was too good!

Learmonth was defo on in the 2nd half cos took a knock on his own line in defence with about ten to go! Did think the ball went to the 7 from saints a little too often who didn't have too good a game!

Both centres had poor games decision wise. I like Percival but twice in the second half early in the tackle count he gave his winger suicide ball and ran them into touch. On the plus side he scored a good individual try from close in.
The biggest disappointment was Yates at scrum half. His kicking and passing game was poor and he cost England the try in the first half. It was right in front of us. From a goal line drop out he pushed the centre (Saltonstall?) infield. Yates was still defending in the centre position on the last tackle. He charged out of the defensive line and the Aussie scrum half chipped the ball in behind him for the Aussie centre or winger to score.

| England's 4 made some very poor decisions for a centre from the 1st to the last minute! Would have also played Connor Farrell over baldwinson (15?) too although only just moving up from 16's, for a big lad he got nailed and driven back every time he took the ball in!
