Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| How much will Sam/wigan earn from this? Anyone heard, or is it all just speculation?

| A completely bonkers idea in my opinion, I just don't see the benefits to the club or to the sport as a whole and I certainly don't agree with the comments that it will be good publicity.
The RL press will be anything but positive about it, the RU press will not provide Rugby League with any positive publicity - maybe they will schmooze the talent of the player and fan his ego but that will be about it, and whilst we all know how talented he is, to expect him to step into a game of of Rugby Union and impress straight away is unlikely and also shows a lack of knowledge about the modern day Rugby Union game.
He will have a bloody big target on his back from the Aussie players in the game and longer term, seeing Sam playing a game of Rugby Union just increases the size of that target on his back to players/fans of other clubs next year and given the feeling towards him last year, added to the circumstances of him staying in the sport, is something that he personally and the club could do without next year.

| Crazy if true.
As an England fan I'd be unhappy our best player had his mind elsewhere when trying to win a 4nations. Playing a new sport is not easy, in fact after no experience it is suicidal!

| I think its a disgrace at so many levels.
1. Its undermines Wigan and Rugby League. The idea that an elite player in rugby league can just go and play a game of union whenever they come calling is nothing short of a joke.
You think if the Barbarians wanted Billy Slater the NRL would even entertain the request. They would tell Union where to go and rightly so.
2. What if Sam suffered a serios injury and was out for the start of SL in 2012. Our best player being injured playing rugby union. Absurd.
3. The media will only use it as a proof that sam is going to Union and him playing means he wants to go to Union. They wont care about Wigan one little bit.
4. If he played badly the RU media and pundits will no doubt use it as a way to knock rugby league.
5. Its RU FFS. I am now getting really sick of these so called link ups with that sport. Things like this only portray the message that Rugby League is the little brother of Rugby Union.

SUPERB. Genuinely the best post I have ever read on rlfans. By far our best player, has turned down advances from union to sign a new contract, he plays one game of rugby union on one of the biggest world stages, and it confirms he's a kn#bhead?! Unreal.

Sorry for not being up to your standards. You are not a real Rugby League fan if you think this is ok, world stage barbarians v austraila at twickers what was the attendance last time that game was played there when more than half the ground was shut. When people talk about sam and his "profile" what makes him so different to any other top rugby league player as his profile needs to be higher. End of the day he has a lot to prove in RL yet and is getting ahead of hiself. Whats wrong with saying about some one thats close with him and stood at the side of him has tweeted yes he will be playing ru next week people like you make my blood boil i wont even bother respond to you again you make me laugh pal

He clearly felt the pressure of a world class Australian side last night so how will he feel in a sport he has never played. The fullback in Union get's peppered with high ball's all game and simple fact is he is not good enough under the high ball to play one of the best Rugby Union teams in the world and they will make him pay for that. Telling me to grow up is very very rich coming from you.
