| Quote: SaintsFan "Yep. It's a lot better. And it was unavoidable as the banks stopped lending in 2008. The only way we got our ground built at all is because McManus has friends in high financial places who could lend us what was needed to complete the job.
If Saints achieve the target of 10,000 season tickets for next year (and already 8000 have been sold, as confirmed by the club today), then that is over £2 million in revenue before we have even started on the corporate events, takings from hospitality, away fans contributions, weddings, funerals, bar mitzvas, or sponsorship. At that rate it wouldn't take us very long in financial payback terms to break even with a brand new stadium that shouldn't - in theory anyway - take much maintenance.'"
£2 million doesn't even pay the wages.
If you have borrowed £6 million at a "preferential rate" of say 5% which would be a fantastic deal in todays world that's £300K a year in interest payments alone. Don't forget that Saints last published accounts showed a £1.3 million loss and a liabilities of £3.6 million And all that is before the Widnes experience and tax man.

im guessing you dont know much about a rugby clubs finances or how much it costs to run a Superleague team, taxes, etc. Im not sure why you dont think the stadium will take much maintenance but no doubt the the guys running your club will see it a little different.

Not an attempt at been a troll.
Football 15-20 years ago usually played locla derbies involving rivals from the same area.
eg Liverpool v Man Utd boxing day and Leeds V Liverpool New Years day. What they realised was that revenue was been wasted as those games were generally guranteed sell outs if they played them at another time in the season. If they played Wolves V Liverpool on boxing day it would sell out where if they played it at anyother time during the season then a sell out would not happen. 80-early90's attendances were lower than now.
I think that it should be looked at as the largest attendances we have in RL is on that Holiday weekend i would just like to see what would happen if we tried when football did. Is it the derbies that generates the crowd, the holiday or both.

| If they want to maximise the revenue for the club why just focus on one game, what is stopping the saints fans getting out to see them in all home games and filling the place everytime they play at home !

I know sweet feck all about any of it but what I do know is that a brand new stadium will not cost £150,000 a month just to keep a safety certificate, which is what Knowsley Road cost the club. And it will bring in way more revenue, which isn't hard given that Knowsley Road brought in hardly any over and above gate receipts/season tickets and some pitchside advertising.

Some of the £6 million is to be converted into shares so that looks like it doesn't have to be paid back. And you have no idea of the rates secured by McManus from his bud in Asia. And since we've just let our Chief Exec go, I can't see the stadium staff costing Saints £4 million a year somehow. Oh, and we aren't spending to the salary cap either for 2012. The club has stated that publically. And you haven't taken into account away fans revenue or any other form of revenue, for example the sponsorship deals already published.
So, in short, you know nothing.
