Depends how much next week takes out of you, won't mean nothing if you're out of steam for the Saints re-match.
Catalans have the wood on Wigan this season, would be a massive shock if they did put you out though, you should have enough.

| I am one of those who thinks Farrell was poor today when it mattered. Yes he worked hard and made some good runs but once again he missed some crucial tackles which proved decisive. The one just after we had scored at the start of the second half could well have proved the difference and was a big turning point in the game. There had been a 12 point turn around either side of half time and we had Saints trapped in their own half, Farrell misses a fairly straightforward tackle and they go down the field and score. If he hadnt have missed the tackles he did then yes I would have said that he had played well but at the end of the day this is the play offs and in these crucial matches missed tackles like these cost you the game, you cant just ignore them. He has been dropped for this this season I wouldnt be surprised to see him dropped next week too.
Joel once again showed he is never a centre, chance after chance gets blown on that side simply because he cannot pass and because has none of the core skills that a centre needs. In fact I would say that all the backs were poor today and Sam looked like he was carrying an injury to me.

| Though Farrell had a good game today. Deacon for me should call it a day now.
Coley looked shot at today age telling, Carmont did not looked is best.
Next week play Sam and Finch in the halves and lets have a look at Roberts fullback.
St Helens deserved there win today.

| Quote: LovesToSpooge "Can I add, the reason why I felt Farrel played so well is because he's fresh. He's not played in every game this season and as a result still has plenty of energy left. If only others players had received a rest throughout the season. I do realize that Farrel was dropped for poor form. But it shows what an effect missing a few games can have on a players energy levels.'"
He may be a good attacking form but defence wins games and he lacked that today and his mistakes were crucial. We were in the game at only 2 points behind. Any game hinges on mistakes like that. He should have been rested. Was impressed with Cross and his fitness so he will be in next week, his bulk will be needed. So if it is a choice between Mossop and Farrell give me Mossop anyday.

| Saints were very good today, we on the other hand were very poor again. Too many players looked devoid of ideas and energy today and have done for the last three and a half games. The back end of this season has reminded me of the when we came up short in the play offs under Noble which always seemed a step too far. The difference is we seem to have come up short far earlier.
I'm absolutely chuffed to have been back to Wembley and won the Challenge Cup again after all these years, but as far as Play offs go, that's it for this season. If we do manage to get past Catalans I could see Warrington picking us in the club call. We're the only team not showing any form or confidence and Wire wil be spurred on by the sound beating they gave us a couple of weeks ago.

By the same token we owe them one this year!
I'm not taking anything for granted though, Catalans had some cracking plays last night.

| get a grip... we were absolutely shocking today but we only lost by 8 points, charnley clearly scored and it was disallowed, tomkins knocked on over the line and wellens last try was debatable... now everyone is moaning, we won from the same position last year remember!

And have been for the last 3 games. We did win it from the same position last season, but on that occasion the defeat against Leeds was a one off blip. The defeat today was not a blip, it wasn't even a shock. Get a grip. The ifs, buts and maybes are all part of the game and are of no consequence once the game is over.

i do consider it a shock seen as we have beat saints 3 times and drawn with them once this season... we have only been properly beaten by warrington and id be dissapointed if we didnt still make it to the grand final

| Farrell was our best forward today. I don't understand the criticism of him.

| Quote: centralparkforever "I said before the game Farrell should have been rested, we lost that game in the forwards, needed power up front, should have been Mossop and Cross on the bench. Faz missed a crucial tackle on Lomax and was caught ballwatching for their second try in the 2nd half.'"
Farrell? Did you watch the game? He was one of our best players today and the only player in the pack who gave us any real impotus going forward....Again its no coincidence that our best player in the pack was a player who has had parts of the season off this year and has been rested.
Quite simply we are seeing the effects with the rest of the pack of a grueling 35 game season and counting....we have been two pack players short all season in Tomkins (covering for Gleeson) and Fielden being injured, and should have rested and rotated most of our front and back row with some of the 20s lads when we had chance against the lesser teams in the league. The cup run has massively taken it out of us as not only did we have the final, we effectively won two other games of 'final' intensity just to make wembley against saints and wire.
Unfortunately we've reached the business end of the season and the forwards are knackered....Cross and Mossop have injuries, SO'l is obviously carrying a hamstring injury and has been for some time since the final (which is why we keep taking him off mid way through the second half, and then probably doing him no favours by putting him back on simply because we simply have to have him on the field or we struggle even more). While not injured the fatigue is clear to see in Hansen Coley and Prec who simply aren't the players they were ten games ago (Ive never seen HH play so poorly as the last few weeks). Lima's still got a bit left but cant carry the pack on his own.
The only think I think we can really do, as a last resort, is pull them from any serious training this week and rest them in that way. Its a risk, but it might serve to freshen them up a little and give us a fighing chance against the Cats.
We really dont have many options and as much as I hate it, baring a massive miraculous turn around, I fear the season is over

| I thought Farrell had a decent game, whereas Deacs had a stinker! those little kicks he kept on making were never going to come off, he seemed unwilling to run with the ball.
Looking at the way the team were huddled around the middle of the park and seemingly slow to get back behind the play at times, what has happened to Wigans plays out wide? when we try to run it up the middle it looks like fatigue has set in.
Too many times the play was easily read and countered.
I hope we can rest up this week and come out fighting against the Cats.

| We looked to have ran out of steam! Cant see us lifting to win 3 on the bounce now!
Not sure we have done anything wrong with resting players all have had time off. The number of games added to our inability to kill teams off during the season resulting in to many close games!
Wire have blown teams away and made their games far easier!
Seems like its Wires to lose now has I cant see Leeds, Cats or Saints being good enough to match wire and we certainly dont look upto it at the moment!

There's no way that Wire will pick Wigan for the Clubcall. If that were to happen it would simply give Wigan a reason to raise their game. Wire will pick the lowest ranked side left in the competition.

| You've still got every chance IMO. As a Leeds fan I've seen us put in poor performances to lose in qualifiers but play very differently in the subsequent eliminator. You've just taken this week off instead of next.
As for Deacon, he's never good behind a non-dominant pack, hence his apparently remarkable renaissance when he left the Bulls for yourselves. My prediction is that next week your pack will perform better and so will he.
