Everyone of our games apart from Catalans has had an attendance bigger than the figure quoted as sold out for the QF at the HJ, so I dont get how that's true!

I dont know how you work that one out when all but one of our home games (Catalan) this season have had bigger attendances than the capacity of HJ Stadium.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go

16,348 actually.
So ok take those 3 crowds away, why? We have them so therefore we need a bigger stadium.
Even without them.
Well over 15k against Hull FC
Well over 14k against Hull KR
Well over 16k against Leeds
Quins is the only crowd we had that would fit in your stadium, we have 18k for that in the past though.
Even 2010 taking away our 3 biggest crowds (because yed feels the need)
Still had over 15k against Hull FC
18k against Leeds
17k against bradford
14k against Cas
well over 14k against wakey
Yeh right.... a 13k stadium is big enough
You even said yourself our average is above 16k. So how could we cope with a 13k stadium.
You level of idiocy just went up higher than I have ever seen it.

| Even if you take into consideration the fact we have 10000 season tickets. What happens to the fans who want to buy tickets throughout the season? And it also always limits away support to around 3000. Never heard so much rubbish in all my life

You need some better maths mate, plus i said 2011 not 2010, why don't i pull Bradfords attendances of 2003 instead of 2011 i could make a point they are the best supported team.
taking away you'r three biggest because a) Wigan v Wire, Wire v Saints, Saints v Wigan unnaturally scew results they would all sell out 20k+ no matter what stadium currently if played at home(saints not quite at home this year scews theirs slightly)
b) artifically inflated attendance v Hudds (look at your previous season seeing as you like that in which you get nowhere near 19k for Hudds)
The average without those 3 games is actually 14,037 (would you like a lesson in working out averages?)
and yes i know the HJ is 13, 024 but i also said FOR WIGAN, you must actually remember other teams bring fans too which means 13024 is big enough for JUST Wigan, obviously you factor in away support at a least 1k
I've seen you maths on other threads anyway OD.
It's like Warrington justifying having a 22k stadium just because we could sell it out against you, another reason i took those games out the equation.
Our attendance is roughy (without actually working it out 10.5k) now you factor in a potential 2 games v Saints and Wigan selling 22k and the average jumps up by 2 thousand.
Long and short of it, 18k is more than adequate for Wigan just because a couple of games goes above it doesn't mean it's the norm and doesn't justify saying 'we are the biggest team therfore need more than 18k'.
You're average would suggest you don't more than 18k and factoring out 2 games that go against the norm/average (meaning your usual level) all your fans would fit in our stadium.
Can't believe i typed that out for the sake of my own ego, im cream cracked.
Lastly
(18k for Quins, thanks Heinz)

Firstly the size of the stadium is related to more than just this year which is why I used that stat.
They don't screw results, like we said, we get more 18k crowds than just from those games.
FOR WIGAN oh dear Yed you really are hitting a new low. I can't even believe I am wasting my time posting back. What stadium is big enough for Warrington then taking away the big crowds can we not allow for expansion etc. You really are an idiot.
Of course I know how to work out an average, but an average includes ALL of the results not just YEDS selected ones.
22k sell out against us? No chance. The games against us only sell-out days before the games. When we get 22k crowds against you we usually have 16k sold a week before. It doesn't happen overnight. Your team doesn't experience crowds this high though so I can understand the confusion.
The FACT is we DO get those crowds so we DO need that sized stadium. The chairman wants to aim for a 20k average.
You are a MOD, you behaviour is sometime just plain stupid...

Which season was this? I checked on Bilko's site and looked at 1980-81 when we were in the 2nd division but Workington weren't in the same division. The year after when we played them there were 5910. I have watched Wigan for over 50 years and I can't remember a crowd of 2,500 against Workington. I may be wrong because I haven't been to every match and I missed a lot through playing some rugby myself.

I was given a shilling (5p) for attendance to home games in the hen pen next to the players tunnel. Most times it would be save the money and climb over the wall near the cop end or St Mary's. Things in the 70's certainly were not all rosey, poor attended games and maybe the Wigan sevens and Locker cup as the highlights.

FOR WIGAN
Missing the point-tastic, Wire sold 35K for wembley, should we build a 35k stadium?
Wire would probably sell 20k+ plus tickets if we had the capacity, for a derby game, doesn't mean we should have a 20k+ stadium for the sake of 2 games a year.
18k would be ideal for wigan like someone says 10k season ticket holders, 3k allocation MAX for away fans, 5k home walk up.

| No, i'm on about a potential maximum crowd versus average for the sake of working out how big your stadium should IDEALLY be.
