Agreed, you hear it now and again anyway. We need to make it 'our' song.

However, if the song is going to be played at the stadium on matchdays we need a new version or the original version.

Celtic have loads of clubs songs like this all to original tunes and it really builds the atmopshere.

Do any of our posters have friends in bands who would be willing to take the risk and record it (or do we try and get John Martin to do the new version?)

Can we raise money through the Brigantes to help with the costs?

You don't need any money - I can do it for free at uni (I'm a Music student). We have the facilities, musicians, equipment and people who can do a professional mix at the ready - free. Sadly though it would have to be in October.

Was going to say I would try and have a go with some mates. I said I would have a go at ancient and loyal but we never got round to it.

Yeah I remember that. Could do that one too. I'll look into when I get back to Uni in October. A little side project if I find the time.

I primarily play electric guitar and piano, but I can play classical/acoustic guitar, bass, drums and have been known to sing every now and then. However I'd just get my mates from Uni to drop in and do some recording. It would sound very professional if it all came together, because they are top musicians at Lancaster and the tech students could do a professional mix of it all too.

I'd vouch for the old recording, the only issue for me would be the lyrics are 'a bit out of date' and some of the verses are a little 'corny'.

Seriously though I will look into it and see what can be done. If nothing else it's a bit of fun.

Do you need a pedal steel player?

Like I said earlier, I can do a one-off, by plugging my mp3 player/recorder into my hifi and hitting record then play. Quick bit of editing in Audacity to trim the before and after space, and bob's yer uncle.

Yeah me too please. I would happily be involved I sing but also play sax. I recon we can get people on the chorus maybe not all singing in time or with all the right words... lol other than this site do you know who I can get in touch with on Facebook and Twitter to get the idea further out there to try aoe address what Dave said.

I didn't say I was any good. You're drumming at the Saints game was good, although that's not much of a compliment in comparison to the previous attempts.
