| Quote: Ron "Dave he actually praised Wigan attacking play in his pre-match interview as well....'"
It was the comments in the press prior to today I was on about so perhaps I should not have said pre-match comments. Those comments in the press implied (well to me at least) he was having the seemingly de-rigour dig at Wigan's tactics as being negative.
What do you think of my view on the tackle?

| I have already said on the wire board that the tackle was perfectly fair.... Solo was moving forward with one man up top, so Coley had no choice but to dive at his legs.

Fair enough. I rarely venture onto other boards so have not seen that.

agree with this post.
Also I've known coley since he was about 16 and he would never try to injure somebody like that. Far too nice a guy.
Unfortunately one of those things that happens and slowed down looks worse than it is.

Nice to see such comments on here so lets hope the disciplinary don't watch everything in slow motion.

| when I watched it I thought it was his ribs that where the problem from the hit by Mossop. He was pointing at his side when he was down also if it was that bad of an injury he should have been carried off (i'm sure that there would have been enough people to lift his fat up on a stretcher).
Also his try the ball hit the ground however what it never shown where on the pitch it hit. I personally thought and still do that the ball was grounded short and then he carried on and he was held up in field, and couldn't believe Dick Silverwood didn't go to the screen.

I was stood at the bar at the time and saw it on the TV. I couldn't see the ball tbh.

| Ive seen it a couple of times on TV now and it looked like he got it down to me. Our lads didnt really protest too much either so it was probably down. Theres no way Silverwood could of been able to tell though imo, it should of been looked at.

I also thought the first Matt King try should have been looked at because it seemed on the replay as if his foot hit the flag - but only for matters of consistency.
Personally, I prefer the NRL style where the video ref is only used in extremely questionable incidents, and even then acts quickly and decisively rather than farting around for hours, trying to find any way he can to disallow the try, which is the way we do it.
But as I say, if the video ref was going to be used regarding a Wigan try, when the onfield referee had clearly already called 'play-on' after the incident in question (Carmont's no-tackle), then he should also have been used in the other situations.

Thats Carmont incident was met by strong opposition from the commentator was it Dave Woods his name? John Kear said there was nothing wrong and the other guy wouldnt have it at all. I noted a few times the commentator opposed us and Kear of all people had to step in to put him right Im not sure who he supports but he sounded like he had something against us imo.
Kings foot did make contact with the corner post after seeing a few replays but i think he just got it down a nanosecond before.

| Smith ought to concentrate on his own team selection instead of bellyaching over innocuous tackles.I mean come on,no briers yet he plays bridge at stand off and leaves Monaghan at hooker with another two hookers on the bench.Monaghan ought to have played scrum half with myler at stand off.both wire half backs were anonymous.myler backed up to score two tries and that was about it from both of them put together.

| I reckon the only question mark is over whether Solomona was standing at the time of the tackle or still moving - it was hard to establish which was the case at the time. If he was standing then Coley could be brought to account for tackling the standing leg as the RFL have been big on that this season.
But Smith whinged about LMS and his tackle on Morley after our last game against Wire even though Morley's injury was actually caused by himself getting a tackle wrong; LMS was banned for potential neck injury due to pushing the head forward on to the chest, and not for the head injury that Morley brought upon himself.
Smith just seems to moan when his players don't perform the way he thinks they should.

Asking the video ref to look at the Carmont incident before Coley's try is one of the worst examples of asking the video ref to check i've ever seen. Had he decided that there was a wire hand on George it would have to have been brought back for a penalty when he only carried on after Silverwood had told him to play on. Ridiculous and I would have been livid if it was chalked off.

| i've watched the Solomona try back, and stopped at exactly the contact point... His elbow hit the floor, then he rolled onto his back. No ball contact with the ground. No try. Smithy would've said the same.
