Decent effort so far. Wonder what the Huddersfield turnout will be. Can see them bringing between 1000-1500 which isnt bad considering they only usually bring 500 max!

18,646 is the capacity on the E-ticketing. If there is that many left then...

15,904 tickets have been sold in the Wigan end but that doesn't include the posh seats so that figure is actually more like 16,500 ish, maybe a little less. Apparently all the cheap tickets have been sold which means 1,500+ Hudds fans.

Crowd is approaching 18k already with 2 days selling left. Fantastic crowd for a Hudds game.

I don't understand why nothing was done for the quins game this season though.

According to the Hudds forum they had sold 1200 by Sunday and were expecting to sell 2000 - sounds a bit optimistic to me but you never know - the first 1500 tickets are discounted though!

I am interested to see the squad selection. Goulding, marsh and roberts. did not play in the 9`s , as previously thought they were going to. Add hock to the list , This should be an interesting selection.

Even Hudds fans have been saying that if they can't bring 1,500 (given a thousand are a tenner), they want shooting!'"

What do you suggest? I will go out with a gun and round thousands of people up then frog march em into the ground for you.

The public of Huddersfield are now either football fans or Bulls fans but will guarentee 20000 will be there if we get to Wembley like year before last grrrrrrrrr a026.gif

Football fans I can understand (we have the same issues, more so as Latics are a Prem side) but Bulls? Why? They are gash and Giants have been a much better team these last few seasons, with superb facilites compared to Odslum.

On the back of this would anyone agree that there are a floating section of Yorkshire fans who since just before SL have tagged onto the winning sides from West Yorkshire regardless of who they are?

Pre SL, Bradford Northern had crap crowds, Leeds were average. But it took lowly Keighley to attract new support by becoming the Cougars (I'm sure they attracted 5k+ crowds) and were a possibility for the new Super League competition.
They didn't make it, but the Bulls copied the Cougars style entertainment (as well as getting themselves a pretty handy team together) and their crowds swelled. It has been rumoured on RLFANS that the Bulls pinched 3k Cougars fans who wanted to see top flight rugby.

As Bulls crowds and success peaked and started to stutter these last few years, their crowds have suffered - just as Leeds increased to over 17K (previously unheard of).

Now Leeds support has decreased a few thousand as their success has ceased, could it be that there could be 2-3k+ floaters waiting to see who is the next successful West Yorskhire side in RL - Huddersfield maybe?

I don't think for one second that the fans are floating around. Success gets the armchair fans to the stadium instead of being sat at home, simple.

Hudds spent too long in the lower leagues so they don't have a large core support like other teams who have come back up like Hull KR and and Widnes. If Widnes are a succesful top 4 side like Hudds when they come back in they will be getting crowd over 10k.

icon_thumb.gif Absolutely spot on. Thanks for posting a genuine reason why we are not as well supported as other Superleague teams and not just slagging off the fans who do attend, i.e. posters on RLfans.
Finishing four times at the foot of the table until relegation also did us no favours. Any floating voter, if there were any, was sucked up by other clubs then. I used to see people I went to school with walking around in Bulls shirts. icon_sad.gif

Widnes are traditionally a poorly supported team. When they were successful in the 80's their averages rarely got near 10K, similar to Stains during their successful period during SL they never achieved much more than 11k averages. So success doesn't always bring crowds.

They are in a new stadium now though, it is different. They will be able to attract a family audience.

If Widnes are a succesful team the public of Widnes won't be able to resist sell-out crowds against us, wire and saints. They could be a really succesful club.

Well if they are not succesful we can't really....

Even so.... I would expect them to be going at around 7-8k hopefully.

Better stadium than wakey, higher attendances, better away support, good youth system and probably a better team. An improvement is on the cards even if they don't reach the top 4.
