| Are you sure you're a die hard Wigan fan Cruncher, cos you love heaping praise on Wire! Suppose Wigan had played and beat Castleford back in round 3 when the game was originally scheduled; they'd have been sat at the top of the table ever since. Would you really be saying then that there isn't anywhere Wigan might have an edge on Wire? I can't wait to play Cas, take our rightful place at the top, and end this bloody collective fawning over Wire!

| I have to say that I don't understand where all this fear of Warrington seems to be coming from.
Does (almost) everyone TRULY believe that they are better than us?
Let's look at just a couple of facts, shall we:
1. Wire have lost twice as many games as we have
2. When we play badly, we win narrowly or draw, when Wire play badly, they implode.
3. We currently have 2 games in hand
4. People have mentioned "we might get injuries". Can I just offer the following: Pat, Stu & HH injured (plus E O'C, but I'm only talking about the core 1st teamers), Hock out, Gleeson leaving, even Amos not really playing this season.
We've played with a whole bunch of kids in our back row at times, plus the likes of Tuson & Farrell who are still very much learning their game.
If Wire can maintain a challenge all season, good luck to them.
However, I have to say that I fear absolutely nothing from them.
The 2 teams (at full strength) are pretty much even IMO and by the time we play next, we will hopefully have all of our missing players back and not pick up too many more injuries in the meaintime.
If their fans want to make out that they're unbeatable, so be it. I remember the shock and the abuse that we got a few years back from a bunch of kids who hadn't seen Bradford beaten at home in about a year until we went there and kicked there backsides.
Confidence is a good thing, but don't let us start believing their hype.
In terms of straight wins, losses and points in the league - Wigan are currrently the best team.
It's no good hammering teams by 40+ almost every game, if another team only wins by 10 points per game but loses less than you do.
Goal-difference doesn't matter if you don't win enough games.

| And can I just say thank you to ElectricGlidingWarrior, who seems to have had the same thoughts at much the same time.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't understand all the hand-wringing pleas for us to be as good as Warrington, when the simple fact is that whilst we're still nowhere near as good as last year (yet), we've still lost less than they have so goal-difference isn't an issue at this stage.

| We got carried away last season way before the half way mark. Can you blame them?

| Can anyone tell me when the rules changed and a game in hand became two points in hand? As it stands Wire are top and if, horror of horrors, we don't actually win that foregone conclusion...sorry, game in hand they will still be top by virtue of what appears to me to be a fairly impressive points difference.
If some Wire fans getting carried away is considered ludicrous then surely the dismissive attitude of some of our fans is equally ludicrous.

You can't blame them at all... but [ius[/i!? Why are we joining in the collective w*nk over Warrington? Why are we practically writing Wigan off despite being statistically in a better position? Why don't we have enough faith as fans to consider beating Cas as a pretty realistic expectation of going top but instead prefer to think that's "rubbish". I despair at this thread I really do.

| Quote: Horatio Yed "Yeah you're right, instead of talking about rugby i should just let everyone get their appendage out put them side by side and get an independent adjudicator to annouce a winner.
But because i'm an idiot i didn't do that.
I'll be honest when i read a lot of wire posts on this forum i just think
I didn't say you were an idiot, though there are many on the Warrington board who are.
There was an overreaction to gerrem'onside's postings, which weren't particularly offensive (although he received abuse).
Most amusing was the call for action to be taken against him on the laughable basis that if he were a Wire fan then the Wigan mods would have banned him (there'd be few Wire fans able to post on the Wigan board if that were the case)...
