We ain't on about that mate.
I prefer the good hard working players get recognised for their game as much goes unoticed in rugby league to which he made a sarky comment about flair players.
Without these hard working players, the flair players wouldn't have the platform to show flair.

Hard working players are everywhere in the league though whereas real flair players are hard to come by. Roby is still probably front runner for MOS though, as he's more than just a hard worker.
The stats aren't exactly a great measure though. He makes 31 runs from dummy half each game and 37 carries in total, which understandably means most of his metres are from dummy half. The fact that Roby makes 5.3 metres per carry suggests either a) he isn't very effective running the ball in (which is clearly not true) or b) that most of his metres made come from stepping out of dummy half before passing at the line, so those metres aren't necessarily much of a benefit and are more to do with style of play.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

You are just making a case to suit you own argument, and i'm speaking as a forward who would have loved to have clattered Sam....... If i could have caught him.

I'm not mate, I just like the unsung heroes( i dont mean roby)to get some award every now and then.
A lot of hard work goes unnoticed and it grates me a little but it's same in all sport really.

You as a forward and I'm a stand off.
Seems strange you favour the flair and I favour the hard working forwards.
Maybe I see every week that the hard working pack make my game easier to play better.
Maybe you favour the flair players as you was hard working forward with no flair
Joke!

Monaghan and Hodgson could be pivotal in winning the double for us and you'd still have people claiming Sam is in a different league to everyone on the planet. There is no doubt that Sam is a fantastic player but at this stage I would suggest there are at least half a dozen players in with a shout of this including Roby, Sam, Hodgson, Monas, Dureau, Chase and Brough.'"
Well after 12 hours posted, not one Wiganer has proved you correct.

| Roby stands out this season because of all the poor players around him!
Only joking! He has been a great player for several seasons and is playing superb this season.

Did you think he could get to a point in the future where Roby is considered to be a better hooker than Cunningham was?

No, because Cunninghams passing game was far superior. Plus I don't like SCOOTER hookers.
That's not to say that Roby is not a good player because he is, but IMO all that running from dummy half isn't conducive to open rugby.

| For me, and this is kind of touched on above, there should be 2 awards for the end of season, rather than just the one Man of Steel award.
I think Man of Steel should be given to the best/hardest forward in the league. That player that the rest vote to win based on "I blooming hate playing against him cause he runs it in hard every time and you just can't get past him" so the "hard working" players are recognised for being the best and hardest workers. Thats what Man of Steel should be about. I mean you call the award the man of steel, but then award it to a flair player who you wouldn't really describe as being made of steel.
And there should be a Dally M style award for the player that gives the biggest contribution to his teams success as in the creative spark that controls matches and changes the game. Similar to what the League express are doing with the Albert Goldthorpe medal (Have I got that right? I've not actually read the league express for a while now but they did something like that last season) So this award would be like the player of the year, because it's awarded to the player that their team just couldn't be without, and wouldn't have done as well without them.
That may still be awarded to the hardest forward for just being a massive presence and carrying his team forward all the time, so it's not just for the backs if you know what I mean?
