'a picture is worth a thousand words'

£80 slap on the wrists and a ground ban was all they got I think too.

As a Hull KR fan I really don't want to try to score points over Wigan fans.

Why should I? Wigan have just brought the best away following to Hull KR this season. And on a Friday night for their most distant fixture.

The flags, the red smoke, yeah we really knew for the first time this season there was a good away following.

No problem IMO.

I know you came for yourselves not for us but even so thank you. Hope you come again next year in even greater numbers when we will have our new North Stand and better facilities to offer you. It will even have a roof would you believe so unlike tonight you will not need your brollies.

Thanks again.

Quote: gerr'emonside "the ultras or brigantes or whatever they're called are slowly gettin on my nerves! Bunch of bloody babies who think just because the can make a few flags and run around with flares they're some how bigger and better fans than every1 else. The majority are just chav'd up kids but then there are the odd few grown ups in there who are perhaps more pathetic than the kids and are in to the whole flag buildin thing to get some kudos and respect off a few 16 yr olds. Ffs grow up! I support my club with as much passion as anyone, yet dont have to pretend im in some european ultras band set off flares and make flags just to prove it. Its pre-school stuff! T055ers!'"

Quote: Dai Jones "I've always gone to football and both codes of rugby matches regularly throughout my life and am old enough to remember when they each had totally different yet equally enjoyable atmospheres. Not any more. All three give you the same songs, the same crowd behaviour and sadly, the beginning of the creep of the same on field histrionics. I suppose its the inevitable result of football's media saturation but it's more than a little bit sad that the match day experience of all our leading ball sports has become so homogenised.

It would be nice if both sets of rugby supporters-and the modern cricket fan too-could stay closer to their own traditions rather than reheating football's culture.'"

Great post mate.

I stopped going to football matches regularly years ago because I dont like all the players rolling round claiming they have been shot and abusing the ref etc. I think you are correct in your point that we are in danger of the disease creeping into RL and I for one think this is far more important and worrying than 2 points this week or next.

good away support, made some noise, waved some BIG flags, a flare went off but no trouble, enjoyed a good result, got wet, say no more. icon_smile.gif

it was good to see a good following from you guys, the better team won on the night, we didnt help ourselves with some sloppy errors, and Hoffmans/Leuluias tries were 2 of the softist ive ever seen, but fair play to Wigan, the did enough to warrant a win.

Quote: CHURCHILL "To be fair to the 'ultras' they brought a bit of colour to the atmosphere

Just to add though, and it might be my failing hearing in my later years, but am I right in thinking that someone in the bunch of 'ultras' was blowing a whistle now and again, not to clever really if so.'"

From the contact I've had with them, that is all they're trying to do. To try and make our support a little different. They are all decent lads just trying to add their support in their way. They don't think they're any better or loyal than the next Wigan fan. I was sat in front of them last night, with the missus and our eleven year old. There was no issue with them, the songs they were singing or the flare. Not everyone likes what they're doing, granted, but no need for our own fans giving them a slating for supporting the team.

I kept hearing the whistle but it didn't seem to be coming from behind me

i too thought i could hear a whistling noise, but that could just because of my wifes insesant nagging making my ears ring.
we had a good turn out last week from Leeds, and as ive said earlier, another good following last night, so what if a flare went off and someone waved a big flag, someone near me shouted at Theirry to F*$k off home you froggy,
now thats racist lol icon_smile.gif

Maybe the Wigan fans should stick with a half hearted rendition of 'Wigan, Wigan' complete with camp finger point in a soul-less half empty stadium and sod off on the 70 minute mark? I'm sure some supporters would actually prefer this.

A roof would have been nice. Bit damp there last night.

I'd like to see our home record since the flags first appeared over the south stand ... knowing that our home record is woeful recently ... perhaps the flags etc are having the opposite effect to the one intended ... icon_eek.gif
