really confused here.
Hardly open season. The question is in that thread who would you rather have Hodgeson or Sam on a WIRE BOARD! Most people are saying they'd rather have Hodgeson but some have said Sam. It is about 70/30. If you get upset at 30% of people not preferring Sam at this stage then you have very thin skin.
I made a post I don't think you could argue with in that. Sam is young and,as many have said, needs time to become great. (Some on here suggest he should bulk up, crazy i tell you) While i said that it would be better to develop someone in the Wolves' youth set up instead.
And i think i know what post you are referring to with the Harrison is great thing. That was in the context of the rest of the England team, who were all pretty poor. You should't pick and choose where you quote. You seem to be the one with the bias towards Joel.
There isn't really any hatred for Wigan players. More just disappointment with the England team and especially Sam. He promised so much last year and hasn't delivered.
He will given time though.

None of the players mentioned do, IMO.
Its Pat's all-round game that makes him special; it isn't that he's outstanding in one area alone, he is the complete player and very, very consistent. Just look at his stats on the superleague website - e.g. 3rd in the most metres gained, 1st equal in clean breaks....

I felt sorry for Sam Tomkins actually. Too much expectation was placed on his shoulders given his relative inexperience at international level.

The next thing you know, he'll be finding reasons why he can't play in Test matches. But I don't suppose you know anyone who's taken that option, do you?

| I don't think sam Tomkins has had a very good tour so far but he's only a young kid and has all the tools to become a top player on the international stage and im pretty sure he will.
It shows how good he is when the aussies say he was our main threat. The aussies kick chase was awesome which didn't give tomkins the space he gets in super league.
A little off the subject here but i thought joel tomkins looked like a player well out of his depth. I know it was his first full game but i have serious doubts about him at that level. Only time will tell but i think he is great club player but won't be good enough at the top level.

He wasn't aggressive enough for me but for a young lad he was solid enough and did as much as one of our supposed NRL superstars in Gareth Ellis.
Joel got through 26 tackles with zero misses and made as many metres as guys like Ellis and Westwood yet I would agree he can play an awful lot better.
I think we should be pointing fingers of blame at guys like Ellis who did zilch in the 2 games or Sam Burgess who is an error machine rather then at less experienced players(at test level) trying to make their mark.

Im not pointing the blame at joel if my post come across that way.
He just didn't seem the same player that plays for wigan every week. I agree, he had no of his aggressive style he has in super league, he loked a little in awe of the aussies.

You make a fair point. Joel was awesome in sl but looked ineffective against the Aussies as he did against the kiwis. hasn't made the step up yet at this level.
