| Quote: Dougy "I'm not an expert at all.
Do you think you will own the ground?
And why is it not going to have a 20,000+ capacity?
Surely a 'purpose built RL ground' when you don't even have a pro football team to compete with would be at least 20,000.
Am not going to lie and say that we would get 25,000 crowds, so there is no point in us having a 25-30k capacity if two thirds are constantly empty.
Have no idea why the 18,000 was mooted but given we only really sell out against Wigan (and sometimes Wire) then its about right. A capacity crowd (with standing behind the sticks don't forget) will make for a great atmosphere.
And you have not answered my question. If we don't own the ground (which you state we won't) then who does? Put it one way, we won't have to ask permission to play or be forced to change fixtures due to a football team

Well you not gonna pay for all the stadium upfront are you!
Your club is simply not big enough for a 20,000 stadium. You only wish you were.
Your little town is not good enough to ever have a Premier League club. You can only dream of watching your home town club in the Premier League. Sorry mate.

| Quite ironic comment that given that Latics fans and Wigan RL fans can't stand each other. Now, because it suits your argument you are using their Premier League status. Fact is mate, you share your ground and the football team calls the shots. As Benitez says, thats a fact. They say jump, you say how high.
I too wish we had more fans. Am very disappointed that with the size of the town and no other sports to compete with, that we had a better average attendance. But having put up with the Old Girl for so long, we will have an increased average attendance in the new stadium much the same as Wire did, as more families will attend, better facilities etc.

Latics fans and Wigan RL fans can't stand each other? Haha! Only because it suits your argument! haha! What percentage of fans don't like each other?
Yeah some fans don't like each other but I live in Wigan, have done all my life and the general population of Wigan like both teams.
It suits my argument? Think about it, who's come onto another club's board to start arguing? Haha! Go back to your small town board!

| The stadium WILL be owned by St Helens RLFC.
It has been set at 18,000 with a view to aiming for those as a regular attendance for the time being, with the possibility that if popularity were to improve, there is then room for growth. This is a very long term aspiration, however. Although market research done in 2007/8 showed that the location put many people off attending. The new stadium is a short walk away from every district of St Helens via the bus station. Some people have to take 3 or 4 buses to Knowsley Road.
As for any trouble with finance over the next season, Eamonn, and other board directors are worth a pretty penny. After next season, the plan is for the new stadium to be used year round, not just for sport, but utilising the facilities it will house with the centre of the St Helens business focusing around the stadium.
I'll take a year of chemical poisoning for the long term future of the club.

Good luck to you. I'm all for RL improving in each and every RL area and this can only improve Saints.
Hopefull it will lead to an increase in fans and most important younger fans that will be the lifeblood of the club fro 70 years+.
The ground will not be owned by St Helens for a good few years. How much will the ground cost?

The ground WILL be owned by St Helens RLFC. The board have put up a large amount of cash to get this through, along with the value of sale of KR. The council have paid for infrastructure improvements, and the NWDC made a generous donation to the costs.

If you pay a mortgage, you technically don't own the house.
Either way it a nonsense argument. I'm genuinely glad for you that you are moving to a better ground. It can only good for the improvement of RL.

| Am I the only one a tad jealous? Yes I know it's not been built yet but it's only a matter of time till it is, and yes I know we have our own superb stadium. But Saints will own theirs and be able to do with it what they like, and most important of all they won't be bossed around by a damn football club.

33718_1325770967.jpg Games as big as Grand Finals define individuals and clubs. Remember, we only rent these journeys. In my time I had Pat Richard's shirt. Ellery Hanley had Sean O'Loughlin's jersey. Sam Tomkins is wearing Radders' number one jersey. Andy Coley is wearing Shaun Wayne's jersey. You have to make a mark in these shirts before you hand it down to someone else. Hand it back. So be aware for 80 minutes that you are not only playing, but you are also writing history and creating legacy. How many people actually write history - not many? A big stage demands big players…..INSPIRE YOUR TEAM MATES.

| St.Helens will only own a percentage of the ground, along with Tesco, the council, Langtree, and Taylor Wimpey.

Tesco will own nothing of the ground, Tesco were used to help St Helens buy the land.
