| We bought him to be part of the Wigan squad and give him a chance.
You say you saw him in his first year, but he didn't play a game through poor diagnosis of his injury.
You say he is good in the reserves, yet some say he is lazy and not interested.
I'm not defending Pryce the player, whether he makes it or not only time will tell. What I am defending is his right to be given a chance.

| When he has played in the first team his try scoring rate wasn't bad although he didn't look completely fit. Unfortunately some elements of the crowd (I wouldn't class them as support) booed him every time he touched the ball. I said at the time that that sort of behaviour is not on and I think if he did get a run out at Salford or Sheffield then the same idiots would boo him again. For whatever reason (and only they really know what the reason is) the coaching staff are not picking him for the first team. For that reason I think that despite how he is doing in the under 20s he is unlikely to get a new contract. If he gets the chance he should go out on loan to somewhere where he will get first team games even if that means the Championship or Championship 1 for a short while to get his confidence up and to show what he can do where he doesn't have to get past players in such good form to get a chance and where the pressure may not be as great. Playing in the under 20s he is in danger of stagnating.

It's quite easy to say he should go out on loan, but for a start that involves there being clubs in for him on loan who can fit him under their salary cap (SL isn't the only league with a cap), and secondly it needs to be the right club. It's also not a case of seeing if he can perform at SL level like with some of the young lads, as he's already proved prior to his RU move that he can perform at SL level.
He was most definitely in contention but then picked up a knock, Goulding got a chance and hasn't looked back, and the rest is currently history.
I feel very deeply ashamed at the treatment he gets from some of our so called fans, both in the times he's played and here on this board. Two things it's abundantly clear that Wigan fans love over the years, is a good moan, and a scapegoat. When the scapegoat creates opportunities to moan without even actually doing anything wrong, then it's like Christmas.

| To get a chance you have to earn it. If he earns it MM will play him ive no doubts about that. He obviously thinks he is either not good enough or he isnt doing enough to deserve a chance. He wont leave somebody in reserve who is good enough for the first team when we have injuries. MM has been spot on this season and I trust his judgement over anybody elses.

Whilst i think that assesment is a little harsh, its very hard to argue against, yes he scored some tries when he played for the first team (not seen any reserve games), but more often than not he didnt burn the house down, now there may of course be many good reasons for this, however if he is on the pitch he should be judged amongst the same criteria as everyone else, and to be fair he has been poor. Like I say there may be reasons we are all unaware of.
The game where he was booed when he touched the ball, was one of the most depressing things i have ever seen at a Wigan game. However booing aside, he got on the pitch banged his head and went back off, now he may have had the worlds biggest hit, but it didnt look like there was much in it from where i was sat. I cant understand why wigan fans where booing him, however i can understand how many think he is a waste of cap space.
He strikes me as one of those people my grandad used to refer to as "would get hurt in mother care"
With all the injuries we have to our back line over the last few games, he hasnt even been mentioned, and for me that silence is deafening, do I hope he goes onto be a wigan great, of course i do! Do i think he will be here beyond this season? To be honest i dont.

At the time he said it, I agreed with most of it.

I was just going to ask which bits are incorrect.
Fortunately we aren't run like that anymore.

well i was personaly told from one of the players that play along side him. Like i said in my post i have no way of knowing if it is true or not. I have no idea how anyone else has come up with the same figure either.

| The issue seems to me that Pryce has never fully recovered from injury leading to a lack of confidence. I've seen Pryce play twice this season in the reserves and he seems to rub his leg/move gingerly/ regularly after contact. Suggests to me until he's fully fit his confidence and work rate will never be enough to get him into the first team.
I'm unconvinced loaning him would do him much good in his current state. Though if he's judged to be fully fit it would be the best thing for him and the club. As some have said a player with Pryce's attributes and the correct mental strength he would be a huge asset for us.
