Just to close this discussion down, i was refering to Daves posts as a whole rather than this thread.
If he didn't belittle other peoples views I wouldn't say anything against him. He very much does that.
This site is about points of view, rarely ever facts! Something everyone, including Dave and I should remember!'"
Last I'll say
I know you were bud that's exactly what I'm getting at. On a forum you should be able to argue blue murder with someone in one thread and be offering to buy them a pint in another. Respond to posts and not to people otherwise you have an opinion formed about a person in your head and it will cloud your judgment about everything they write subsequently. Its a very hard trap to avoid and to get out of but I suggest you try putting any preconceptions aside in future and taking each post ANYONE writes on face value, even try reading it in your head whilst doing an impression of a jovial Irishman it will help you to read what the person is saying without any false impression of arrogance/anger etc. I've agreed with Dave's posts and disagreed with Dave's posts in pretty much equal measures there are regular posters who I suspect are far more guilty of the things Dave is accused of. I know Dave can handle it but I really don't know how he has the patience, there are plenty of threads that Dave doesn't post on for those who don't like his opinion to ignore, yet they choose to follow him around... beats me.

| Quote: gpartin "This thread is absolutely ridiculous, the rugby we are playing is miles more entertaining and far less predictable than we played under Noble. Nothing Dave has said demonstrates an 'I'm always right' attitude yet those criticising him are acting like pathetic school children. If the only argument people can come up with is a personal attack then I suggest you grow up and grow an opinion.
Maybe certain people are a bit miffed that everything negative that was said about Nobby in the past is being shown to be trueFor goodness sake people even argued after 3 years that it wasn't even Nobby's team but it sure as hell seems now that people have changed their tunes a bit.
Have your opinions by all means that's what forums are about but accusing someone of being a know-it-all for having a logical writing style is totally uncalled for. If the club had listened to half of you lot there's no way we'd be top of the table with the best attacking points difference.
As for the post by Damo, most of us acknowledge that Nobby helped save us from relegation but it was time for him to move on probably a year before he went. Progressive coaches are able to learn from their mistakes and target areas for improvement. I have nothing against him as a person, despite some of the rumours about his private life but it seems like there can be a million and one positive posts about Nobby but woe betide anyone who says anything negative about him.
He's gone and everything is pointing to the fact that Wigan were right to let him go.'"
Was just going to post about it not being mentioned that it isnt maguires team!
After all we had that for 3 seasons from some on here! Its laughable, the excuses that were made for a poor coaching set up!

It has been mentioned indirectly.
Amos just needed time to settle in.
Nobby was right to stick with Piggy who's proving the doubters wrong.
Maguires selections are the same as Nobby's proving Nobby knew best.
Some people will never let the facts get in the way of a good old fashioned Nobby Gobble.
If we put in great performances all season and finish in the top three only to get knocked out at the first opportunity in the playoffs some people will use this to say we have gone backwards under Maguire. Given the fact that people pay to watch rugby to be entertained we're already a better team imo. Trying to remember any memorable regular season games in recent years is a real struggle. After the last few seasons I'd see winning a trophy as a bonus but not the be all and end all.

| As is being mentioned in another thread, the problem seems to be british coaches, Nobby is clearly the best UK coach around with Kear the only other of merit.
MM has come in, with the australian attitude and we are flying along with Hudds & Wire.

| Having watched the highlights on the Super League website its clear the biggest different this season is a true team spirit. After each try the team runs up and congratulates eachother then walks off back to the lineup as a "squad" of players. A real sense of a group working for eachother.

All anyone ever posts on here when having a general discussion is a point of view. An opinion. Including me.
Who in their right mind reads anyone's posts on here as some kind of statement of fact?
That being the case why should anyone make out this is not the case with me?
As to belittling poeple that's ridiculous. And I don't think I have ever responded to a persons opinion on here about a RL topic with a post about [ithem[/i as opposed to the issue being debated either.

I have on individual posts where I felt it merited, but some of the criticism you have faced is totally uncalled for. In the last few years of reading your posts I have never seen you belittle anyone but when you blow someone's argument out of the water some people are unable to respond with anything other than insults.

| Quote: Salty "I've always noted that teams tend not to change their style even when a new coach comes in.
Saints always play an open game no matter who is the coach.
Warrington always move it wide, especially to the right.
Bradford rely on brute force with big players.
Leeds play an open style.
Hull play strong and off the cuff.
Wakefield throw it about with enthusiasm.
Castleford live up to their classy name.
Yet Wigan have been transformed this year. From 5 drives and a kick we are now playing expansive rugby.
How can a coach make such an impact. I'm loving it. And yet I realise that this year is only the beginning. Next year, with expensive player coming off contract we should have money to spare to make 2 or 3 key signings.'"
Central Park's comment on Goulding's second try supports these comments.

It's going to be interesting to see if we do and what peoples reaction will be if we do. Some players may retire such as Bailey and Coley so there won't be any controversy there but we have other players off contract who aren't at the end of their careers who the coach may think he can do better by replacing and some of these could be crowd favourites.
If Maguire is ruthless we could well see popular players leave for players he thinks are better.

And quite right too.
Early days yet, but I suspect Feca might be one to go.
