| If it's too late for many of your fans it's too late and we have to play in Perpignan.
You know we love our city and our stadium wich is only 10km from where i live.
But playing a big event of rugby league in Montpellier should be another fantastic moment for the game in south of france. Catalans are a little part of Languedoc Roussillon and Montpellier is the capital of Languedoc Roussillon.

Our biggest problem now it's we must expand the capacity of our stadium Gilbert Brutus but politics do not so agree. The main financial is the Region Languedoc Roussillon council and that's why we want to show there rugby league can fill a 15,000 seats capacity stadium in France. If we realise it just in front of there eyes, they could not refuse gilbert expantion.
'"
Like i said earlier
All it would need is free transport for wigan fans whos already booked flights. 3-4 coaches wont cast the catalan club much.the outcome would be worth it if they prove they can fill a 15k stadium .

Now you lot will know how the Catalan fans felt last season, when they changed there game to Sunday when most fans were returning home.

| The two clubs should get together and sort it out for next season ( 2011 ) then everyone has chance to make arrangements including the various travel agents that are involved and nobody loses money this season.
I don't want to spend an extra 4hrs on a coach ( 2hrs each way from Perps )
But I can see that the idea has merits, they know that Wigan fans would dig deep into their pockets and make the game a great spectacle, but nobody can afford to lose £200 -£300 this season.

I believed that it was Sky Sports who changed the game last year ! It was the first and only home game of super league played on sunday in four years. And YES that was a disgraceful way to treat quins fans.

For the best way to
Get to Wigan Games!
LIGHT TRAVELS FASTER THAN SOUND.
THAT IS WHY SOME PEOPLE LOOK BRIGHT TILL YOU HEAR THEM SPEAK!: |

| Assuming that Free coaches are put on to Montpellier, this doesn't really effect our group too much. unless the coaches are "dry" and then people won't manage the trip.
The thing is though, once the fixture is confirmed that should be it.
There is no debate about IF it was confirmed, the club booked their Hotel, organised the trip etc so as far as they were concerned they knew where they were playing.
Plenty of people have decided to stay in Spain. Will the free coaches run from there? Yes they can cancel hotels but they will have possibly have wanted to fly into montpellier or nimes to save the road trip ~ will someone pay for different flights?
What i can't understand about the comments about Montpelier being the biggest city in that region is... did they only just realise that?
the argument that they need to fill a ground there is fair enough on the face of it but begs the question ~ why did you move a game to Barcelona instead last year? was Montpellier not so important for your development then?
If I am honest i don't really see the point of playing games on the road.
does it work?
are there coach loads of people from Barcelona heading to perpignan to follow the Dragons after seeing super league live? Or was it like when we play on the road in Edinburgh and no one there has a clue what we are all there for?
What about the local businesses in Perpignan that seem to support the Dragons. Why should they bother if one of the biggest games is not going to be there?
You could make a lot of these points about spreading awareness etc about all clubs. Who would like it if the club announced our league game against Stains at HOME will be played at Villa Park?
Had it been announced from day one that it would be Montpellier fair enough. but to change it now i just think is bang out of order.

%100 agree good post.
I am sure Mick Hogan checks this site, as well as the emails that have gone into the club, let's hope common sense prevails !

| I Think you would enjoy it, we had a great time in Barca last year. The Catalan fans really got behind the idea last year and that alone makes it worthwhile. We normally stay 30 mins away from Perpy and travel in on the day as its not that difficult to get around.
I think you would all enjoy it more if it was moved. If the club didnt pay for transport and you had to fund it yourself your only talking of something like £15.

May not be from Barcelona but there are a few more locals that had never been to a game at home before that now attend. Look at their attendence figures.
So In a word yes it does work

Don't give a feck mate to be honest.
Flights/accommodation already booked.
Refund our deposits (16 of us) and then fine go for it.
But you will never see my support again & many others who have already booked I would imagine!

| The clubs should have sorted this out when they had the fixtures in thier hands 2/3 weeks before the rest of us.

Well the difference is we are Wigan and we don't try to be Lancashire even though we loads of fans in Preston for example.
The Catalans though are not Perpignan. They try to be a regional side for the whole of the Catalan area which is why they want to take odd games away. I don't think they've had a full season's worth of fixtures at Stade Brutus (or Aime Giral in 2006) since they started. They've always had odd games in places like Narbonne, Beziers and last year Barcelona so it's not unusual.
But as you say it should have been announced before the fixtures came out and it would be out of order if they moved it now. Slightly different for you because your staying in Canet anyway but I wouldn't like be in the minority staying in Perpignan whilst the party of Wigan fans are together in Montpellier
We'd all heard the rumours of Montpellier before the fixtures came out so Catalans only have themselves to blame. At the very least they should have warned that the venue was TBC so we'd have known where we stand.
