Think you are getting mixed up here. "This Sporting Life" starred Richard Harris who played a coal miner who signed pro and it was filmed at Wakefield. This was in 1963.
Then in 1978/79 Del Henney played a Welshman who signed pro in the series "Fallen Hero". There were 7 episodes in the series and the RL scenes were filmed at Central Park. It also starred Wanda Ventham. The extras in the crowd scenes were local lads who were just asked to turn up for the filming. |
