| Quote: Andy Greg "You seam to have a very selective memory when Noble came we were bottom of the league by a long way and only looking for quick fixes.
Noble took us to just outside the top 6 that year then to within 80mins of a Grand final for 2 years running.
He has got rid of the quick fix scenario and put the club on a very stable footing.
What some forget is how hard he has worked to get a good stable side and work within the cap limits all Nobles sides have started the seasons slowly and built towards the end of the season.
Before the Hull K.R. Game we were on one of our best winning runs and what lost us that game was the panic football the team were playing in the last 20mins if the players had not wanted to score on every play and played the percentages we could well have gone on to win.
We did not play badly on Friday but we did panic in the last 20 Noble had no control over that all he could do was send out a message to them.
The resting of Tomkins was a good call as it was alway going to be a very hard hitting game in bad conditions better to save him for another day rather than possibly having him hurt and out for the rest of the season.
How anyone can say we have gone backwards under Noble is beyond me stats mean nothing its where you finish that counts also look at the whole picture all the things that have been done in the back room.
Try looking at everything that had happened not just the last game or stats tunnel vision is ok if you work in a tunnel but no good if you live in the big wide world.'"

When people say we have gone backwards they mean we have gone backwards since the end of 2006. We have never matched the consistency we showed in the latter half of 2006 since and our "best winning run" before the HKR game does not compare to the winning run we had in 2006 to avoid relegation.
It is also undeniably true that we did worse in 2008 than 2007 which does mean we went backwards and so far we have again not shown any improvement in our early season league form and saying Nobles teams always start slowly is just no excuse because they should not. Our current league form in terms of results is starting to resemble the form we had in the first half of 2006 when Millward got sacked.
We will now have to go on a very good winning run for Noble not the be in danger of losing more league games in a season than the previous one for the third consecutive season.

How can we have gone backwards Dave we finished higher in the league last year than the year before and got to within 80mins of the GF now in my book that is not going backwards.
If we win on Friday we an go 7th in the table on GD with the way things are going this year we can still make 4th in the league and possibly the GF we are still in the CC and could get to the final.
Noble is the best British coach by a county mile things are just starting to gel all the hard work in the background is starting to come good we are playing more attacking football and our defense is getting better.
We should at least let him see the job through for all the hard work he has put in.

If you read my second post on this issue, i agree with what you are saying about off the field stuff being very good, however can you honestly say hand on heart, that we are as good as we should be? Can you honestly say that noble has done enough to warrant a new contract come the end of the year. All this talk of peaking is all well and good, but i pay for the whole season when i get my season ticket, i dont want to watch bilge till august, other teams seem to manage to try hard all season!
Now i realise i may get called selfish there and perhaps i am, but i love this club as much as the next supporter, and all i want is for them to do well. I agree we have been much better for the last few weeks, and was very unlucky with a few bounces of the ball on friday night.
As i said in my second post, i dont think nobby should be sacked as i believe he has done a lot of good work and he should be allowed to see out his contract.
However if in my opinion we give him a new one, then we as a club have made a bad decision.

| at this moment in time there are no top class coaches available, but if noble goes lam is not the man to replace him.lam is in the present set up at the roosters who are not doing well in the nrl,so if we are to judge him on results it would be a bad move.

Yes hand on hart i think he deserves another 12 months to see the fruits of his hard work come good.
Then i would hope that I.L. would ask him to be Director of Rugby at the club
I feel the club as had to much upset in the last few years and its stability we need now to make us great again next year I.L. and B.N should be looking to a top class coach to be his successor.

Listen I am in neither camp with Noble, I am not a hater, nor am I a believer - I think regardless of the current situation he needs to be given to the end of season - changing coach now is likely to do no more good than harm.
However, where i take issue with your post is the part that i have quoted which shows how inconsistent we have been under Noble and how far our expectations have sank when a winning runn of 4 games is one of our best - especially as one of them was against a side who hadn't won a game at that point.

And the one who was top of the league dont forget.
Expectations have sank because of how the club was run in the past we are back on our road to recovery in a very hard competition now days any team can beat any other these days. Times have changed and everyone need to move on we cant live in the past we had it to good for to long and it nearly closed our club we have to work within the rules we have now and go forward from here.
And i am sure when Saints good run comes to an end which it will there supporters will be saying just what ours are now.

Each year since 2006 we have won fewer league games each season and in 2008 we were knocked out of the cup earlier than in 2007 and we finished up with a negative points difference. We exited the play offs at the same stage in both seasons so no difference there. So when you look at the overall picture at best you can say there has been no improvement and at worst we have gone backwards.
Quote: Andy Greg " If we win on Friday we an go 7th in the table on GD with the way things are going this year we can still make 4th in the league and possibly the GF we are still in the CC and could get to the final.

His contracts up and it is often said on here players should not be judged on their last seasons performance but how they went over the period of their contract. Why should Noble be any different? In 2007 and 2008 we have had to put up with some of the worst RL I have ever seen Wigan play. We have had some equally awful performances so far this season.
I think out best chance is in the cup because you only need to string a few wins together to get to the final (two more) so even a side as inconsistent as ours stands a chance of getting to Wembley but given our league form we seem as far away as ever from getting the consistency that guarantees a good league position so a good chance in the playoffs. That is after just over three years with him has head coach and IMO that isn't good enough for a new contract to be offered regardless of any cup run.
As to him being the best British coach I don't care where he comes from if he isn't doing a good job which means delivering results after three years he needs to be replaced.
