The thing is, I know many who have contacted Sky and Eddie directly and unsuprisingly there is never a reply.

Devil's Advocate, here.

If you were a professional commentator for Sky and, like Eddie, Stevo and everyone else who appears on screen, had to hide your allegiance in the interests of impartiality - no matter how professional you are, and no matter how good you were at hiding it normally, can you honestly say you would not have cracked during THAT performance?

Is Eddie's lack of impartiality actually not a bad thing? Would you rather have someone like Clive Tyldesley, who did 'Rugby League Live' for Granada in the 80s, who doesn't know or care anything about the sport? Now he WAS shocking - and no one complained about him when he had orgasms over Man U scoring the two, last minute goals against Bayern Munich, did they? Or Harry Carpenter, when Frank Bruno momentarily (almost) put Mike Tyson on his backside?

For all his faults, at least Eddie loves his RL.

Yeah but all we want is someone who is biased towards wigan for a change, i know your thinking 'phil clarke' but he tries so hard not to be biased he ends up being anti wigan.

Carney for commentator i say icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Carney for commentator i say that's the last thing i want.
it's comical how certain tv people have allegiances to some clubs, but it has absolutely no effect on the outcome.
i listen to radio manchester and you have a leyther and oldhamer who have a deep running problem with the wigan club. it has no effect on the game on the pitch and when wigan score it brings a chuckle listening to them congratulating the boys through gritted teeth.

Kevin Sinfield. Is mortal. After all.

And we wonder why the Aussies laugh at us so much.

talking of bias....and trying to be impartial commentating on your own team...........what about the mark lawrenceson moment?

sitting behind his desk all dolled up in shirt and tie, dressed immaculately, ......liverpool scored and he jumped in the air showing a tatty old pair of jeans........classic icon_biggrin.gif

thats how i would prefer our rugby commentators to behave tbh...would spice up the commentary, instead of em keep pretending to be unbiased.

i wonder how stevo would react if dewsbury ever got into superleague ?

To be fair to Eddie, he goes that un-noticed that some people do think he's dead.

That's true although inbetween his dislike for Wigan it's usually Danny McGuire who gets his praise rather than it being all St.Helens ...

MCGUIRE! MCGUIRE! MCGUIRRRRRE FOR LEEDS! SENSATIONAL! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!

And Danny McGuire may just be picking his nose at the side of the scrum icon_lol.gif

Who was that who presented the RL World Cup on SKY when Eddie and Stevo were in Oz? He made it look so much more professional even if he wasn't all that 'up' on his RL.
