The only thing IL did wrong was to say 'signed 'rather than 'agreed'. Why would he intentionally mislead anyone on this point. He had an agreement with someone he's known for years. They both agreed to announce it.
If IL had kept everyone in the dark until after the 6 nations when they were due to finalise the contract, everyone would have been up in arms wondering what's going on and blaming IL for having no plan or not communicating with the fans.
SE has been very disengenious saying he hasn't got a contract and will be unemployed after the world Cup. Hes the one who should be getting the flak.'"
Perfectly summed up. The fact the contract wasn’t signed is not the club’s doing. In hindsight the wording of the press release is the only thing that wasn’t right but free club had no reason to believe SE would go back on the agreed terms. |

I think you mean lying in the press release.

Who has told you all of this ? how can it be proved ? as I have said before without a a signed contract SE cannot be in breach, morals dont come into it.
IL is the captain of the ship and the buck stops with him. |

We (Lenagan) would receive a minor sum to release Edwards from his contract.
So we'd be in the same boat.

So you're saying, Edwards agreed to be Wigan coach, in July/start of August, but didnt want to discuss pay or sign a contract till after he finished a tournament that starts in February the year after? That finishes middle/end of march?

The contract wasn’t signed due to some unusual intracies on Edwards part that the club were still working through. He orchestrated the press release to say he hasn’t signed, purely because he saw his stock rise. What he failed to say was that he hasn’t physically signed the contract because of his unusual requests that IL was still trying hard to resolve.

I hear that some HMRC checks had to be carried out due to a request by SE which shouldn't take 9 months.
The whole episode is a bit of a fiasco with neither party looking good.
I'd rather kick on and forget SE and look for a replacement Asap |

It may not have taken 9 months but he asked not to be disturbed during the 6 nations. The truth is we know that the deal was sorted and in place but that Edwards has done the dirty on the club.
I agree though, move on and pin Lammy down long term. Give him time to implement his philosophy and some players who can deliver it. We’ll be fine.
