He still qualified at U18's last year.

| Thought the young lads were very impressive and really liked the cut of Gelling's jib. I am still 'Oop North' for a bit at the moment so may take in the Reds game, does anyone know if King or Crosby are likely to get a run out in that one? I haven't seen them yet and hear they are a tad useful. Are they injured or about to go out on dual reg?

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

Jack Hughes was the other centre for us tonight with the ginger hair. Hes from our academy as has played most of his rugby predominantly at SR but obviously we're trying him out in the centres. I agree, I thought he had a strong game there myself and constantly looked a threat running good angles and showing good strength. I think Greg Eden went well for you men last night, looked a good prospect

No, thats Jack Hughes. He's a second rower really but they seem to be trying to convert him to centre. He played first team twice last year v Barrow in the cup and Harlequins in the league.

Crosby is out for another 5 weeks according to the man himself on twitter.
Very bad time to be injured with the competition for places we have. I think he'll find himself behind Spencer in the pecking order now.

| What i do hope is that some of the lads that played last night get some games against the lower end teams in super league at least this season. I know its only one game but some of them looked well up to the task plus that would bode well for when they will be first team regulars.
We dont need to play our best team every game to win imo.

| Crosby had an op on his hip (IIRC) a few weeks back so hes gonna be out for a while. Tom Spencer for me completely outplayed Dudson last night and IMO should be higher in the pecking order and possibly on the bench for the Huddersfield opener. Even Greg Burke looked stronger than Dudson, he needs to work on his game for me.

| Dudson was flogged midway through his second stint.
Didn't look like he'd had much of a pre-season.
Sure the staff will sort that.

| Both Wigan centres had ginger hair last night.
Hughes No4 is genuine, Gelling was 3 and his appeared to be dyed. Not too sure whther Gelling wanted it blonde and it hadn't worked out though.
Hughes is a local lad and come through the academy. Gelling is a Kiwi.
It appeared Brown had more to think about after last night's game than Wane.
Brown's one asset is Danny Brough. If the Hudds pack can get on the front foot then Danny boy will win many a game for the Giants.
Not too sure about the Giants pack for this season though.

| Gelling impressed me on Thursday. Looks quite raw but given a run in the team, he could be the man to take over from Carmont next year.
I think this year will be a building year, but the amount of young players we have coming through who can be nurtured alongside the seasoned pros could make us a real force in 2013. That's not to say we won't compete this season, I just don't think we'll do as well as we have done the past two years. I'll be happy with a top 3 finish and a final this year (although I said that at the start of 2010 as well!)
