That's good news - especially that he's been practising goal kicking too, which is a good sign for the injury if that part of his game is ok too.

Newlove, great player, was very unlucky to get that injury but since then medical procedures have changed dramatically. What Pat suffered, would a few years ago, have ended his career. Apparently, he's responded very well to treatment and should recover enough to play pro league again. As for him being as good as he was, I think it'll be the end of the season before we see the best of him.

| Quote: nikos "Madge knows Finch better than anyone, and he had a solid game, coming back from injury and first game in 7 months - even if he only does Deacon's role of being a good kicker and a fast pair of hands in the middle of the park for a couple of seasons. We sorely missed Deacs on Friday IMHO.
In Madge we trust.'"
Sorry Nikos, I think Finch fully fit will be a massive asset for us but on Friday he way off the pace. In Madge we do trust and his options were limited but I'd have tried the young bloke out of the under 20's as a starter, with Finch on the bench.
One of the things from last year was how we did give younger players a chance and how well they responded. Just hope that we don't go back to playing people just because they are a big name signing.

It would have been just as much, in fact probably more, of a risk to give a young player a starting debut against Warrington than it was to play a 200 game NRL veteran who has played representative RL coming back from an injury whom the clubs medical team had decided was now fit to play. Lockers at 6 with Finch on the bench, as it looks like will happen this week, would have been the way to go imo.

| We learned again last week that ours is an experienced man's game.
Wire played 10 forwards and eight are over 30.
We had one over 30.
Our back line was very youthfull, too youthfull could be argued.
Sam, Goulding, Marsh, George and Charnley. Only one senior player.
This week Mcguire has gone for experience with Sam, Amos, Joel, George, & Goulding. Next week Goulding could go and Pat come in.
Backs of Sam, Amos, Joel, George & Pat is a whole lot different than the lads who faced Wire.
That last lot of backs could be there as long as their fitness and form stand up.
Pat is a points machine and it also could arguably they would be the best backs in the League! Marsh, Goulding & Charnley may only appear when injuries occur.

| Richards has never been the quickest wingman or the lightest on his feet. His best attributes are his power, his size, a good handling ability and a fantastic ability to leap in the air and take a high ball.
Only the last one could I see him having any sort of trouble with in the short term. I presume an injury of this type could effect his spring so thats an area we may have to be patient with.
Other then that he'll be fine.

Unless Roberts has a blinder against Leeds he'll make way once Richards is back imo.
I'm not sure Maguire trusts Roberts mental state since his injury tbh.

I really hope this is the case.
Think we are lacking direction in the middle, and i think sam is much more effective in the middle.
Amos will be more devastating coming from deep

Which seems the most logical appraoch. You can't trust Roberts anymore, the injury has done massive damage to him mentally imo.

| Roberts looks much better on his feet than he did late last year in my opinion.
He dropped a few high balls. Its not a reason to abandon all faith in him.

| I'm thinking we need to get behind roberts or he could go the way of DV and that would be a great loss to wigan and to RL so get behind him and don't get on his back.

I agree. He looked sharp to me when he came on. If he plays wing this week I hope gets some ball so he can show what he can do but I'd much rather see him at 1 with Sam at 6.
