Or, a better idea, don't sign-up to such moronic agreements with your landlord?

Should the RFL not have forseen this and change the weekend to a free sporting weekend the next week?? Seems silly playing two big rugby league games on the same day as the final footy day?
For me people have over reacted massivly on this. Yes i would like to play the game at home and yes if we cant i would like to know where we are playing but some of the comments and pictures i have seen on FB and Twitter etc are way OTT

The BBC have paid for the right to demand when the game will be played. They obviously want the game to be played when they feel they will get the biggest tv audience, and that happens to be Saturday 2:30pm. Wigan can't just decide to play it on the Friday and stop it from being on BBC, that is a ridiculous suggestion.
The BBC are not to blame for this.

Exactly another OTT reaction. The beeb pay for the rights if they are low amounts thats not their fault its the RFL for not demanding more. We wouldnt do it if sky demanded us to play a certain time so we cant do it for the beeb

no it isnt ridiculous.
the BBC know our situation, if they cant come to a comprimise with sky, then they wont have a game to show , will they?
IL should stand his ground on this.
the RFL have caused the problem with ridiculous schedulling..let the RFL intervene to solve it.

Of course they will, just not at the DW. Which is your problem, not the BBC's.

| OKAY, if we can't use the DW for the match on Saturday we would still be the "home" team if we went to HJ, Halton, Leigh, Bolton......... But if we did come to an agreement with Sts to use langtree would we still be the "home" team and hence have up to 70% of the capacity in the stands we choose...If not then we need to play anywhere but Langtree so we have the opportunity of our fans getting admitance

I wondered this too, especially since the longer this drags on without a resolution, the more I expect the RFL to step in and switch the fixture to Langtree.
What happened with Oldham there last week? The fixture continued to be listed as Oldham v St Helens; were Oldham given the home changing room etc?
I think the ticketing side of it would be irrelevant - demand didn't seem to massively outstrip supply for the Super League game there last month, so we'd probably take a similar number again; and Saints fans would treat it as a 'home' fixture regardless of designation - so if it gets switched to Langtree Park, I'm pretty sure it'll be more a case of 'Saints v Wigan' than 'Wigan v Saints' no matter what the official fixtures list says.

You are completely missing the point.
The BBC do not have to compromise with anybody. They have paid their money and have the right to choose which games they show, and when. It is then the responsibiltiy of each 'home' side to stage that fixture. In this instance, Wigan seemingly can't stage the fixture at the DW.
The only way that the RFL should intervene is to decide the alternative venue. They should not, and in my opinion will not, attempt to co-erce to BBC into changing their scheduling.
What is the point of the BBC paying money to have the choice, if that choice is then taken away because Dave Whelan doesn't want his pitch messing up?? This isn't a Saints fan having a dig at Wigan, I'm just giving you the facts.
Unfortunately this is one of the risks, or potential problems, when renting/leasing/sharing with a Premier League football club. Fortunately, this scenario has only occurred once or twice in the 10+ years you've been away from Central Park.

| Why when the final is months away have the RFL scheduled a round of matches to coincide with FA Cup Final weekend and the climax to the domestic football league season? Irrespective of the Wigan issue this is madness - couldn't these fixtures have been played in June?

They have?
Had wigan taken a home draw in the last round against top opposition, and BBC decided it should be the Saturday game, what would have been the argument then? "Why have the RFL arranged a cup game on the third to last weekend of the Premier League when Wigan Athletic are at home?"
This "last game of the football season" stuff is irrelevant to everyone except Dave Whelan. It could be ANY premiership weekend and the result would be the same - Wigan playing elsewhere.
