| the reason we got moved from the east stand was due to poor organisation IMO,
when we got in we were looking for our allocated seats but was told by a steward that we could sit with other giants fans in the other block.
just after kick off, some wigan fans turned up and demanded they use the seats they had on their tickets, when we told them that the stewards told us to sit where we wanted they started kicking off, even though stewards told them they could sit anywhere they wanted, they insisted on sitting in the seats on their tickets. so after 4/5 minutes of arguments and giants fans telling stewards to let us move into the north stand, they agreed.
as far as I can see, the wigan club knew that giants fans had bought the groupon deals and should have either set aside an area in the east stand or stick to the allocated seat system.
you cant have allocated seats then tell folk to sit where they want.
im sure it would have been a lot easier to just make half the north stand for home and half for away, but that would have been too logical.
anyway despite this I enjoyed the night, and the wigan walk was one of the best I've ever seen

the stewards were very good, in fact 2 of them even apologised for the confusion and hope we enjoyed the rest of the game as we made our way into the north stand.

| Quote: nohalfbacks "Wigan put on a promotion to attract more than the normal 200 or so Hudds fans for a top of the table clash. Then stewards apply some common sense to allow away fans to sit together, first in the East and then in North. There were still plenty of seats available in the North so there was no issue there. Then Hudds play well and win to stay top with the real prospect now of winning a trophy for the first time in donkeys years and all you do is find something to moan about! Unbelievable. I can understand you thinking the North stand was pretty full which it wasn't but I suppose you are used to being able to wander around an empty stadium. One whiff of success and you lot start turning bitter and twisted. Enjoy the success while it lasts cos it only comes around every 81 years apparently. Perhaps the Hudds public will start to realise that they have a good team and start to turn up.'"
no they didn't, they put on a promotion to try and get their fans to fill empty seats, and fair play to them, wish we could do that.
however the promotions were not aimed at Huddersfield fans, judging by the lack of organisation for the visiting fans last night I think wigan were surprised that more than 200 of us turned up.
and yes the stewards let us sit together in the east stand but then didn't apply the same logic to wigan fans, hence the problems just after kick off.

Empty seats at a Hudds game. Thats very normal! You shouldn't be surprised that Wigan were surprised that more than 200 turned up. But the title of the thread is OTT and unjustified. Perhaps we should start a similar thread on the Hudds board when Hudds charge us top whack to go to your place when clearly they need a promotion to get more people in.

When Huddersfield regularly bring a decent number than you will get that. The trouble is you usually bring a busload and it is not economical to always do so. Start coming with decent numbers and you will get the North stand all to yourselves as Saints, Leeds, Warrington et all do.

| Quote: Durham Giant "I disagree with the OP
I thought the stewards were excellent.
As our tickets did not arrive we had to go and pick them up so got there early ( then there was no queue so we got into the ground about 50 minutes early.
Went to our seats and the steward came and talked to us for about 15 minutes and could not have been friendlier.
A bit later on a large group of Gaints fans were sat together but had to sit in different seats as their seats had been taken by Wigan fans so the stewards told them where to sit..
Then 10 minutes into the game 2 Wigan fans turned up and wanted to sit in their seats which had the Giants fans in. The Giants fans all moved down and left two seats at the end of the row for the Wigan fans who refused those seats and demanded the stewards move all the Giants fans so they could sit in the middle of the row.
Two stewards had a chat and rather than upset all the fans and have dozens of people having to move seats in the middle of the game agreed to let the Giants fans into the North stand.
They dealt with it quickly, professionally and without any trouble.
Hats of to them for being so good and accommodating.
I have emailed Wigan to congratulate them for this.
I do think the problem could have been avoided though.
If fans knew that the group on vouchers were for allocated seats they might not have got them and they could have at least expected some Giants fans to buy them so they could put them together it would not have been difficult when people were giving their addresses to say to you want to sit in a Giants section of the East stand.
Anyway congratulations on Wigans PR and Marketing team for getting a great turn out to the game. Is that the biggest crowd of the SL season.'"
Some good points. The problem could have been sorted with hindsight but other people seem to be saying the Wigan fans where being awkward, at the end of the day though that section of the east stand was very busy and i personally don't think there's anything wrong with people wanting to sit in their allocated seats, bit of a different scale but If i turn up at Wembley and a group of people just decide they want to be together because they've bought tickets that are separated and take my seat I'd be saying something too. I think the stewards who said just sit where you want where at fault in that situation really and not really clued up on how many people where expected.

| We didnt just decided though, it was the stewards in the stand that turned us away from looking from our allocated seats and told us all to go in the far block and sit where we want. We presumed they would have told the Wigan fans the same !!

it actually worked out better for us in the end.

| Is it disorientation at being in a crowd of people that had thrown the Giants into disarray? They get offered tickets at a reaonable price, end up with their compadres, all 2000 of them (if you're counting limbs rather than adopting the one person counts one approach), and then we have a storm in tea cup and a dig at people leaving early.
A question for next Year's Huddersfield 11 plus. If 19k Wigan fans begin to leave 10minutes before the end of the game, at what speed would they have to leave for there to be more people left in the ground at the end than would ever dream of watching the Giants play at home (6 marks and you'll need a calculator as it's a big number)?
I will be well in my dotage before we see them throwing their toys around agin, thank goodness.

| whats matter lingfield did we beat you?
why the bitter swipes at our fans?
why not just accept defeat gracefully like most others on here?
our fans created a good atmosphere last night so not sure why the digs.
