Nothing would last long on here if the criteria for locking threads was that there was a pointless argument involved.

The thread was opened because of the short turnaround between a rugby and football game that has the potential to cause certain issues (and has in the past). It then developed and there's been some good posts that bring out some of the nuance involved on the owning / renting debate.

TBH the way it started it looked like another IL bashing thread which is why I think Jukesays said to lock it

I started this thread and it was not my intention for it to be the start of an IL bashing thread . My sole purpose was to flag up that the biggest home game (crowd wise) of the season may need to be moved and for those who travel any distance to be aware of this. It isn't always because of Sky that games have to be moved . It's always good to be aware that a plan B may be required and it's good to have as much notice as possible

I wonder if those same people who constantly bash IL for not spending £15m on a stadium would all stump up an extra £150-£200 on their ST to pay the interest on that £15m, which would equate to £450,000 at 3%.

£450,000 is (I think), way more than is currently paid to rent the stadium that is losing £1.5m a year.

Principles are fine, but they often come at a price. In this case, it would be £500 season tickets, £35 match-day tickets, lower crowds, lower revenue, higher ST prices, higher match-day prices and repeat.

Noticed the cherry red seats have yet to be changed last night.

They can't even be bothered to clean them. Couple of seats around me that had bird cr@p on them, plus a thick layer of dust.

The whole stadium looks tired, will need a few million spending on it. Will the new owners have the appetite for it, I suppose that depends on the success of the football team over the next year or so.

No issue with a Sunday afternoon game in the middle of summer - you could argue that this should be a more regular thing. Get some barbeques going in the fan village.

Yeah, great news for me, another game I can take my young lad too. Really can’t understand why we don’t have more weekend games.

I'd prefer Sunday afternoon as our "default" for home games.
Probably not too great for corporate sales but Sunday afternoon may as you say entice more "family" ticket sales if we can expand the fan village concept.
