I remember watching him in an Academy Grand Final a few years ago and he scored a hat trick. You knew then he was a real handful with his strong quick runs and good footwork.

By all accounts he’s a good lad off the field too

Thought Philbin has been underrated by the rest of SL for a while now but this thread shows that's changing.

Not sure he is GB quality yet but he keeps getting better.

Seems to have a complete disregard for his own well-being, and you love to see that in a prop.

He looks like he's going to break the line every time he takes the ball up, I like him, hopefully Mitch Clark can do that impact job for us next season.

Hopefully Philbin isn’t a flash in the pan because one season doesn’t make a player and I don’t remember his name being mentioned last season

Flower is a great club prop, i cant understand why some people are attacking him. He is not a stand out flashy player and i wouldnt have him in the GB squad but he is steadily good. He does his job efficiently and to a high standard. No huge runs, no massive hits, just high quality with the ball and without it. With a 1 point lead in the last 10 minutes of a grand final, you would want Flower on the field. You know he would be unlikely to make a mistake or miss a tackle, thats what makes him a good player.

Very good, well made point. With the impact we'll have at prop next season Flower will be invaluable in allowing others to go about their work in the most effective way possible. Underrated.

Happens all over in sport, fans see the flash, not always the hard work..... I watch no wendyball these days, and i'm certainly no Man U fan... But i can well imagine that when they were in their pomp a few years ago, the first name on Ferguson's team sheet would have been Denis Irwin.

In all fairness Clubb has been great recently. I actually thought he was past it but he has really stepped up in the last month or two.
