There was comfortably 1,000 in the North Stand alone. I sat at the northerly end of the West Stand which was pretty busy with only a handful of Wigan fans as far as I could see. Can't comment on how many Wigan fans were at the other end of the West but as that half of the stand only holds c1,700 it must have been a bit of a squash if you had 2,000 there?!

| From the stand that I was sat in I saw 2 Leigh fans from the moment I went through the turnstiles to when I left and the the end stand I saw a stand that was at best 20% full which would make less than 1,000 for the entire time I was there I'd struggle to say I saw 800 Leigh fans today.

| Wigan took around 1000 today. The majority of which were in the RHS of the West stand. The LHS was made up of Leigh (I know as I had moved from there to be sat with some friends instead). Even on the RHS there was a decent spattering of Leythers, so I'm not sure where this 800 of them has come from??
Bearing in mind they had a good number on the terracing too!

| Nothing is decided in January! Arguably the best side in the Championship over the past few years has been Halifax and they're having similar discussions on their forum about how poorly they are looking in pre-season!
Now I don't know why fans expect players to be at their best in January but they've just been concentrating on fitness so ball skills and moves will take a few weeks to tinker with. Also considering it was a mix of first team and predominantly youngsters for both sides it shouldn't be taken any other way than a little money spinner for the club chairman and a bit of a hit out for the squad players.
Next week I think there will be more Wigan and HKR first teamers than there were today but again it will be most of their first hit outs of the season where cob webs will be blown off and moves practiced in a higher intensity game than they get in training. Thins will go wrong but that is what these games are about for a coach so he can get it right in the weeks coming up to the start of the season.
Hope to see plenty of you making your way over to Craven Park next week, should be a decent crowd for a friendly and probably back to the good old days of sharing the East Stand with opposition supporters!
Safe journey!

Wiganrl, I think its about time this attitude of we are greater than you went out of the window and to say that they made heavy weather of putting 30 points on a bunch of kids does not ring true.
I am a Wigan supporter and all week all I have read is Wigan are putting a good balance of players with first team experiance picked out of the 25 man named squad.
Wigan got beat today by a team who wanted to try and prove something, this they did by playing with more intensity than Wigan. It meant something to them.
But dont try and throw a diversion by saying that Leigh will never get into S/L,it is now a well run club who have their dreams and ambitions. Wether they will achieve these ambitions is hard to tell, but give them the chance.
Lets have less of this looking down our noses at other teams, saying we had more fans at the match than they had.
The atmosphere today both in town and at the Wren before the match was a look back in time,I spent time with both Leigh fans and Wigan fans and enjoyed the banter.

I've attended every game at that Stadium, I know what the ground holds and I have a fair idea of what the attendance is by looking at how full various sections of the ground are. Your numbers are completely wrong.
Out of the 2800+ on today I would estimate that Wigan brought 8-900 -- 1,000 at a push. The remaining 2000-1800 were Leigh fans and their spread was similar to what I would see at a home game with an 1800-2000 attendance and virtually no away fans.
An impressive turnout from the Wigan fans, but lets not be ridiculous.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "I thought only Greg Burke of Wigan really showed up today.
I was disappointed with Wigans starting front row of Dudson, Tomkins and Taylor, and as you say that gave the Leigh pack dominance. They also exploited the inexperience on Wigans right edge (Burgess a winger playing centre and Manfreddi)
You mentioned the Wigan 6 & 7, but I think you're being a little harsh. Powell had to pull out through injury leaving Hampshire, normally a 6 to fill in at 7 and Carberry normally a hooker or back row to fill in at 6.
Just another point have you ever seen a game where a team has not been awarded a single penalty in the match?'"
I was made aware after the game refn Powell, who I understand you have high hopes for and I assumed had played.

You want to stop suckin them Uncle Joes the fumes are affecting your eyesight ive been to nearly every game at Leigh Sports Village and at best Wigan had 700 fans and well done to them who could be bothered turning up to see the full time lads young or not you turned out against a team of part timers.
Wigan had some of British games best young players on show today and it was a good experience for them more Wigginers should have turned up to support them

Tell you what mate , i agree we did make heavy weather of the game , we MUST have bombed maybe at least 30 points with dropped balls over the line , in truth the score should have been 60 points for the Leythers , i was in the Stand you was sat in , at the North end though , at least 2000 leythers there .
Nice to see Brian aka Stillinthepast your always welcome at the LSV .
