i suspect a devious journalist at work here trying to open up old wounds,watch any game of rugby or football this weekend and 75% of the pitches will be in a poor condition,again lazy journalism trying to make a story out of nothing,my only suprise is that so many people bite on the issue.
its been the worst winter for 30 years and a pitch like anything else has a shelf life every now and again it will need re-placing,whelan knows this and i dont think youll find many latics fans disagreeing with you that he is indeed a untrustworthy individual,there at last some common ground between rugby and football thier dislike of dave whelan,anyone on here not like maurice either

Having read the "article", the title of this thread and a lot of the posts here bare no relation to it.

Martinez basically says the pitch is house at the moment and is obviously not going to get better with two teams playing on it from now on. The usual lazy journalism winds it up and gets the usual bites it was looking for.

The one thing Martinez says which I don't agree with is the excuse of the pitch contributing to how bad they are playing. That failing is all his own making, with his tactics, team selection and signing a couple of his mates from Swansea who are so out of their depth its embarrassing.

But this is the same Martinez who sent his players onto that pitch during the worst of the bad weather against the wishes of the head groundsman, and is now complaining about the state of it.

Even with 2 teams playing on it the pitch should improve soon as the grass will start growing again as we move towards March, they were seeding the surface today.

I was wondering how long it would take them.

Balls to 'um!! They clearly know nothing, so there's no point worrying about them.
