He isnt wrong though is he, its been a monumental fall from grace since nobby left!.
Hope you can get back as i quite liked bradford, plus was a bit more interesting as a big four as opposed to big 2 which we have now.

Please tell us which bit isn't true;
You've had excellent crowds in recent past.
You've very little comp from other sporting clubs in your city or area.
Your ground needs a major revamp
You've now sold or got rid of all of your former top stars!
I remember when Bradford used 2 produce world class youngsters as well as signing young gems like Hape, Robbie Paul & big Les! The signings you've made so far seem IMO 2 be panic buys or short term fixes!

What is the legality of a verbal contract offer and acceptance?'"
Surely, if he has received a contract from Bradford, which he as signed and returned in good faith, it can no longer be considered a "verbal contract" ???
I didn't see a signature from Trinity Mirror when I signed my contract, but it is presumed to be there, because they've sent it out for you to sign which finalises everything.
This sounds like an absolute shambles.
Amateurism of the highest order (if it is as reported)

Verbal contracts are supposed to be legally binding but what is a verbal contract [ioffer[/i?
Who would accept a contract based on a verbal agreement only (and quit their current club etc) without looking at the small print a written contract may contain?
If this is based on a verbal agreement I don't think the player stands a chance. The article does mention contracts sat on desks so I presume they think he has a case as he signed a written one anyway.

| His agent is now saying that they had a letter of intent from Bradford and because of that did not take up an offer from Catalan.

It sounds a bit messy.

Where to start? The current administration is dealing with problems that predate it. The decline of the 2003 team dates back to before Nobby left, the Odsal issue dates back to before Stanley Baldwin cleared off. If you're interested, I wrote an article for RLW last year, it's in the issue with Iestyn on the front. But I don't fancy rewriting the whole thing here.

Indeed. A quote from that article:
''We signed a letter of agreement in August and they issued a contract and we signed it and sent it back to them."
So according to that he signed a contract. On the Bradford board I have seen a post that says for the contract to be binding Bradford had to sign it also. Not sure about that.
First of all it would be be very odd for a club to send a contract out they had not themselves signed.
I don't know for sure but I would not be surprised if sending a contract out would be considered in law an offer of employment whether it was signed by Bradford or not.
At the end of the day I would expect the player to seek compensation from Bradford rather than force them to honour the contract and actually sign him.

If you pay a player off early whatever you pay him is divided up over what is left of his contract for salary cap purposes.
Don't know how long the Bulls are supposed to have signed this guy for but if it were for three years and they agreed to give him ÂŁ90K to go away (for example) that would be ÂŁ30K on Bradford's cap for the next three seasons.
Now if they are operating at full-cap once with their new scrum half all signed up they may not have room to pay any compensation and you can't defer wages to make room can you.....

They absolutely don't need to sign it Dave for it to be binding. It's common practice to make legally binding contracts over the internet these days without pen ever touching paper. They're dead in the water as far as I can see regarding this if what his agent is saying is true. Whether it is true or not is another matter of course!

That may well be true but sadly the time has to come when your current board has to man up and sort it out!
It's all well and good saying it's due to x, y & Z and never fixing it! How hard can it be to raise a crowd in an area like Bradford? You market some games as 'big ones' like Wigan did or you offer better deals.
The playing front is the most shocking aspect at Bradford! You are paying Orford 150/200k a year! For that you could have got both Brough AND Atkins which would have been a better long term investment Imo!
Btw do you have any idea how I can get hold of the article?
