| As mentioned on previous threads, I don't want to be apart of any supporters group but just want to be amongst atmosphere and considering the Brigantes/Ultras are the most vocal bunch, I will sit/stand on the outskirts of their group to be amongst the good atmosphere that they mostly create. Last night was great and it's totally irrelevant what scarf they have, each to their own.
But again, I just don't understand the segregation. Why go in the far wings and why run down to the bottom of the stand which will obviously alert stewards that then leads to visable prevention tactics such as more stewarding with the chief steward filming the group. It just creates negative attention but then again, despite defensive posts by members on here, I think it's what a lot of them want which is a shame because the concept with the right morals is brilliant for Wigan supporters.

However, I will have a moan. I'm all for generating more atmosphere, but I don't see the point of someone labelling themselves as a Brigante or Ultra or whatever. Surely we can just generate atmosphere as Wiganers. It's as if they think they are some set of super fans, and has an elitist feel to it. I just don't get it, sorry.'"
I'm pretty sure everybody loves the atmosphere and the effort, but you're right, it does have an elitist (as well as divisive) feel to it.

They have got their own forum! They are already bored with rlfans! Its the rest of you who are obsessed with keep raising topics on rlfans and then spend the rest of the 17 pages complaining that the thread was raised in the first place!

| The people that are complaining about the thread are the people that are saying they are bored. If you dont like a thread its quite simple, simply dont post at all on it and instead post on the threads that do not bore you, there are plenty to choose from. Its not exactly rocket science.

| Thought it looked a bit daft myself - 20 kids at the front waving scarves and bouncing while the rest - who looked like you supported a different team due to seperation between groups - sat there clapping politely.
Cracking noise though but you need to get another song , that one gets tedious after 60 mins

| One question I do have is, why do the scarves say 'ultras' on them?! If you are there supporting Wigan, then get a scarf that says Wigan. I was proper cringing last night when I saw it on TV with people jumping around with scarves as if to say, "Look how cool we are!!! I'm an ultra!! Yey!"

It did make it a lot easier to play 'spot the chav.'

| Why didn't the group initially come up with a name/brand that ties in with the concept of the 18th man? The 18ers (or something less crap than that)? That way there wouldn't be this fissure between fans on the one hand and ultras on the other.

| Anyone else get a PM about the Brigantes? Seems like you cant have an opinion on them unless its positive or offer any constructive criticism on how they can become more inclusive and get the support of all Wigan fans. Nice.

Largely irrelevant what they called themselves or if they gave themselves a name at all. There'll always be someone to complain about them and what they do. Rugby fans, and it's not unique to Wigan, are the biggest moaners around. Like someone else said earlier, if this is the only thing we've got to moan about then things must be going well on the playing side.

| Just to add to the scarf debate .. My new scarf says CHERRY AND WHITE ARMY on one side and BRIGANTES on the other.. I'm not a fan of the name Ultra's as that makes me think football hooligan. But I do like the idea they have at creating an atmosphere during a game. I do not want to sit at a game in silence. I could do that at home
