Was well observe until some idiot in another stand shouted something and then a bloke a few rows in front of us shouted 'respect' and then all the shushing started....but I felt for such a large ground of mixed fans it was well observed and Saints especially deserve the credit you could hear a pin drop in there end I bet.

I was disgusted by the way the minutes silence was ruined in the wigan end. I hope who ever was involved is ashamed of theirselves.

Wigan rugby league, hated, adored but never ignored Terry Newton - 07.11.78 - 26.09.10 - R.I.P.:

The few idiots who did not observe the minute's silence should be utterly ashamed of themselves and are a disgrace to rugby league.

I thought the noise from the NE side was shocking but I had expected there to be some disruption so I wasn't suprised.

What is important to me is that I had chance to pay my respects at the game and I will never forget what a top bloke Terry was.

He would have enjoyed the game so much last night, RIP Terry.

A big thanks to all of the saints fans as i didn't hear a peep from you through the inutes silence. I was in the north, towards the wigan end, and the only noise i heard was from a minority in the wigan end. Sounded to me as though they just didn't realise it was happening tbh.

Some minority of Wigan fans just do not appear to understand the concept of a minutes silence. Its not that they were being rude or disrespectful it is just cos they are thick as fook.

The one at the Quins game was just embarrasing.

Sorry, but I heard very broad Lancashire accents shouting "STFU Scouse" and "Have some respect" coming from the East end of the ground and from the nose bleed seats in the North Stand.

The West end of O.T was impeccibally silent eusa_clap.gif

My 5 year old son understood why to be quiet...............why couldn't a bunch of grown ups do the same !

R.I.P Terry Newton. My family and I paid our respects as requested.

Oh yeah ............thanks to the fecking idiot who having shouted out during the silence had my son asking me " Dad, whats a Scouse T**t ?" Thanks a bunch you moron ! eusa_clap.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Agreed, some very stupid people seem to follow Wigan. They dont understand the rules, never mind a minuts silence.

As a Salford Supporter watching the game, I have to say I was appaled and upset at the noise coming from the Wigan end during the silence.
For me it ruined a good game, with Wigan deserved winners.
There is no place in Rugby League for the idiots who dis respected the silence and Terry Newton and his family.

Quick to judge IMO. How close were you to the incident? I was less than 15m away. A group of non Wigan fans managed to get 2 - count 'em - Wigan fans to rise to the bait. 2 too many but not too big a deal. ATEOTD for a 71000 crowd at an evening KO it went better than I'd hoped.

Quote: Cronus "I can tell you for definite it was a gang of KR fans in army fancy dress who caused the disturbance during the silence. One lad in particular who was being a proper tit and kicked off when fans around hushed him. We saw them before walking over to OT and they were wrecked, but in good humour. It's a shame one or two let them down.

It was NOT Wigan or Saints fans, who were brilliant tonight.'"

A quote earlier said it was Hull FC fans and now Rovers. How can you tell who they supported unless rovers new away kit is an army outfit !!!!! As usual blame people from Hull. If it was then they should be ashamed but they are only a minority and 99% of Rugby fans from Hull are behaved but just curious how you knew?

i was in the north tier 1 row LL so quiote low down to the corner flag in the "wigan end" but lets remember this, jut because it was the "wigan end" it doesn't mean it was wiganers who made ALL the noise.

before the match i saw a bunch of fans (no idea what team they supported) in centurion / roman attire, obviously a bunch of lads out on the razz hoping to have a good day out, which is understandable.

from my seat i could hear quite clearly the noise and it was definitely from the are in the stand where these fans where as during the minutes silence and after the game had kicked off there was an abundance of stewards around them trying to calm them down and even trying to stop retailiation from a few wigan fans from what i could see - i know i was still quite a way away to be honest. but that bunch of roman fans whoever they were were definitely part of the disturbance and i can only assume the wigan fans in that stand kicked off because it was them who started it.

rightly so, the wigan fans should not have retaliated but whether the fans who did retaliate were drunk and mouthing off unnecessarily or even just passionate fans upset at the noise during the mintes silence it still shouldn't have happened.

more evidence to suggest silences are a thing of the past and maybe they should evolve into minutes applauses. sport evolves, so why can't the ways to show respect evolve. at least if there was idiots mouthing off during the applause no one would be able to hear it!

such a shame for terry, but i'm sure he was rolling his eyes just as much as the rest of us and shook it off once the game began. hope you enjoyed it fella icon_thumb.gif
