| On casforum he's getting praise for actually to get the team going forward and not much negative comments. The only thing they agree on is that he is not a Half Back.
Another strange post

| On a season long loan there will be ups and downs. At least he's getting game time. He played Stand Off yesterday after a spell at fullback. It's still early days to judge him at either. What does seem to be clear is that he is a long way from being the 'answer to Wigan's prayers' at Stand Off. Those that want rid of Matty Smith need look no further than the evidence of last Thursday's game to see that he is still offering Wigan a lot.
However Ryan is still young and young players often lack consistency. It seems that he will be returning to Wigan as the Carney deal looks to have fallen through. And I think many of us will be grateful for that on both counts.

3076_1671446335.jpg SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS
For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

Indeed.
There are far more negative comments about Luke Gale

| Gale was superb last year and started this season well IMO but he was dire against us last week. I heard a couple of comments after the game that he'd played well and had to chuckle. His long kicking game was diabolical and I was surprised just how poor he was.
It's funny how form can really go west in just a couple of weeks.

| I remember thinking Gale had real opportunity there to show he was the top dog at 7, and he really blew it.

| I think it's another good indicator that new half back pairings take a long time to bed in, Look at Leeds, Saints, Cas and ourselves with Smith having to play with every other player in the squad next to him. It takes a long time to build up that relationship. Sandow last year, rubbish. Now he is bedded in he is the go to man.

| For me Hampshire is and always has been nothing more than potential, the way some fans revere him is putting unfair pressure on the lad as I cant help but feel its going to take him longer to mature as a player than Wigan and we fans would hope.

| Watched the Cup game on Saturday and McShane playing half back, was deservedly MoM.
It does seem that Hampshire has been forgotten about as a half back by Powell. He has played full back more than half back. He moved to Cas to get regular games at 6/7. Both Roberts and Gale were injured and yet he can't get a game there. I wonder how he feels about this?
Is it dawning on people that maybe Shaun Wane was right about him? I mean surely Darryl Powell can't be wrong too?
(Actually Ryan played quite well at full back)

Increasingly, Hampshire comes over as one of those kids who certain fans have invested so much hope in that they won't see what's happening right under their noses. You're quite right in that two SL coaches have now formed an opinion that he isn't a halfback. I personally think he could have been given more opportunities at 6, but ultimately we have to go with the experts.
The big danger now is that he ends up drifting down through the game, still looking for that starting berth at stand-off, until he finishes up nowhere of consequence. Whoever gave him the idea that he must demand to play at 6 if he isn't selected there did him no favours. Young players cannot do that, and do not enamour themselves to coaches or chairmen if they try.

Correct. Look at John Bateman who seems to be willing to play anywhere just to get a game. And wherever he's played he's been our best player, whether it be 3,4,11,12 or 13. I dare say he'd do a more than useful job at hooker if asked.
I still think there is a future for Ryan at Wigan if he knuckles down, with Sarge leaving and maybe a move to the halves for Sam. (But the next Shaun Edwards he ain't - who never bothered about playing fullback either)

Also correct.
Shaun commenced his rise to national fame by scoring a memorable try at Wembley - from fullback.

| We also had nobody to play FB! Hampshire payed FB but chipped in with several attacking kicks because Millington who was 6, cannot kick! Overall I'm growing to like him.
