| I maybe wrong but from my perspective the balls were for advertisement purposes only, and the little girl was giving out the winners rings. SBW bent down and gave the little girl a kiss on the cheek took his ring before taking his place with the rest of the squad who still had the balls with them. Although I do agree he seems to have a massive ego.

| Quote: jonh "Watching the presentation for the NRL Grand Final he went down massively in my estimations.
When going to collect their medals they were also given a replica ball to present to a sick child stood to one side of the stage, before joining their team to celebrate. Each Roosters player too the ball, picked up his medal then presented the ball to the child. SBW refused point blank to take the ball, the event staff you could see were explaining to him what it was all about and he continued to point blank refuse.
I think the bloke as good a player as he is has some serious ego problems.'"
I think you was looking at someone else cos SBW bent down and kissed the girl and said something to her. He was the only one that did that

No it was at the other side of the presentation, once they had got their medals, it did not show the players giving the balls to the kids on camera.
It was not the little girl who was part of the presentation party but a line of kids on the other side of the stage.
If you look you see 2 members of the organisational team trying to explain to him what it was about but he point blank refuses.

| what was the advertisement on the ball any chance there was alcohol brands on it? he does a lot of charity work and has been an ambassador of a couple of charities since he was 18. hardly say he has a big ego he stays at home with his family majority of the time, he just has strong morals.

Sonny (Not Sunny) does do a lot of work with charities etc, while it might be a front he seems keen to help where he can. If you do a You*:tube search for when Gould met Sonny, it goes through his life and his work with charities alike.

From one camera angle it looked like he said
'what time do you clock off, babe '
OK I'll go get my coat.

| The ball was sponsored by an alcoholic brand which as Sonny Bill is a Muslim is against his religion so really the PR woman should be the 1 doing her homework on players beliefs also he was the only one who actually bothered to speak to the young girl in the wheel chair instead of kissing up to the sponsors

| Not sure if I can post links, so I'll not, but if you go to a well known video sharing site, type in 'Gus Gould Sonny Bill Williams' you'll find a good 15 minute interview with the man. Really changed the not so high opinion I had off him

Surprised to hear about this given the amount of work he does for good causes.

| It has just been announced in the Aussie press that SBW has decided to stay at the Roosters for another season, this was after meeting representatives of New Zealand Rugby Union to discuss returning to the Union fold.
Should be a good test for the young Wigan Centres and Second Rows (depending on what position he plays in the WCC)

Brian why not realise this could be a good time to show the RFL what we think we can achieve with broad thinking and common sense the time is right for fans to show their suppoet as we all have the same goal and ideals this must not change the stance of others as it might harm the thoughts of them what don't want to vote .

I Charlie, I saw your answer to my post on SBW on my phone while I was in the pub having my usual 3 pints , I waited until I got home and then had a look at it on the PC.
I have split it up into 3 sentences to try and understand it better and have come to the conclusion that I do not know if I am playing on the Right wing or the Left wing.
I think this should be on the 19 page thread discussing the RFL that has been going for nearly a week and no doubt the Mods will let me know, but my knowledge of the English language makes me uneasy trying to go head to head with posters who seem to be able to talk all day rightly or wrongly.
My view of what is going on is that a large majority of S/L clubs want to take most of the revenue for themselves thereby cutting off the rest of the BRITISH SUPER LEAGUE.
This I am against, there are a lot of clubs who work their guts out to maintain a team in their towns, teams with a proud heritage whose fans turn up week after week proud to be known as supporters of that teams (WIN or LOSE )
The rot set in when teams where told they had to go fulltime Pro even when they could not really afford it and these teams soon fell by the wayside. Since then the R/L have been under the thumb of Sky who have kept the R/L feeding on crumbs, due to the fact that the R/L and a lot of the SO CALLED top clubs have been to bone idle to find an alternative method of funding.
When I first started watching R/L back in 1953 Wigan where by far the best supported club in the League and they paid the price without complaining ,every team in a 32 team league paid 5% of their gate money into a fund (levy) and at the end of the season the fund was shared out between all clubs.
Most clubs gained and an handful lost ,some quite a bit on the deal but R/L was better place.
That is my ramble over and no doubt I will be ridiculed for airing my views, but if it comes down to dog eat dog I do not think I want to be part of it. It is time both the R/L and the clubs started to fend for themselves and graft for sponsorship and extra funding from the TV companies instead of wallowing in abject apathy.
Charlie I hope what I have been putting down here is what you where referring to, if not so what, it is what I think.
