| I think he'll be a good squad player for us but he's not gonna our best prop.
Really think we will miss Coley this season in a big way.

Given a choice of a fit Fielden and a fit Coley I'd have Fielden any day. Apart from this last twelve months Fielden has been one of the most durable and best props in the Superleague era.

| He's said on twitter he expects to be back in action late Feb to Late March.
I'm just hoping he meant early March because his injuries really seem to be dragging on and on now and it's frustrating for everyone not least him i'd guess.

I'd take Coley just for his sheer consistency. Mr reliable in the big games and when the game is going tough.
Both very good players but Coley, imo of course, has had a better Wigan career.

| I'm not sure Coley has had a better Wigan career tbh. Is it not just that expectations on him were a lot lower then they were on Fielden?
Fielden helped keep us up starting his career in good form, then lost his form, re-found it again, won a grand final and then won his international place back.
Coley started his Wigan career slow for a couple of years then like Fielden everything picked up for him under Maguire.
People always judge Fielden against expectation which was/is huge when in reality if you just look at his form minus the reputation and it's been as good as any prop in the league over the past few years bar maybe the big guns of Graham/Morley/Peacock.

| I'd definately take Fielden over coley, agree 100% with what NickyKiss has said above. Not to mention Coley for me was frustrating to watch at times, he always seemed to give away penaltys at the exact wrong moment and it frustrated the hell out of me.

When you consider that he cost £450,000 and at Bradford was considered by many to be the best prop in the game surely the likes of Graham/Morley/Peacock are exactly the calibre of players that he should be being compared to.
For what its worth I dont think he has been as bad as many Wigan fans like to make out but again dont think he has been as good as some try to make out either. He has certainly never regained the form he showed early in his career at Bradford and even though some try to blame the Mason punch for me this has nothing to do with it as his form was declining way before this.

| Coley under Madge was fantastic prior to that he was not the player we hoped we had signed. I really wish he had done another year. His performance against St George was stunning, taking on their pack on his own. Fielden will come good I have no doubt but the more effective of the 2 on a good system for me was Coley.

Coley blossomed under Madge and was a very effective and very good player for us. Fielden was great when he signed in 2006 and was a big reason we avoided the drop but despite being slagged off too much when he was fit to play he can't complain if Coley is considered the more effective player since then because he has been.
Coley has a SL ring and CC winners medal and deserves both because he made a big contribution to us winning both trophies. He did not get these medals because he was an average player in a good team. He helped make it a good team. Fiielden needs to fill his boots IMO and if he does then that will be great for the club.

As good as Coley became in the last 2 seasons, he hardly cracked any pots when he first came to us. Fielden was a hit from day one. Yes he did suffer for a while but played on despite carrying injuries. Still think he's got a lot to offer. Forms transient, class is forever.

| I don't think its fair to compare Coley and Fielden - one is a marquee signing and the other a good solid player who played some of his best rugby under Madges leadership. Coley , as already stated, played a part in helping Wigan get back to success and he deserves his medals. Coley was mr consistent and obviously had an impact on the team off the pitch because it was his teammates who voted for him as part of the leadership group. As previously stated his efforts in the st george game were heroic, and imo Coley has been great value for money . He more than proved himself in the last few years.
That said lets hope Fielden gets back to his world beating best this season. Nothing would please me more!

36121_1270460193.jpg Conroy - Being a Latics fan i'm already immune to watching sh*te.
Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36121.jpg |

| I hope i'm wrong but another setback for Stu could well see him calling time on his career. Captian13 and I were talking at the end if last year and he reckoned we'd never see Fielden again, I was doubtful at the time but he's had one setback already, another big one could see Dave being right for once.

I've been thinking the same, hence why I asked his age. He's been around since he was very young. Props usually peak when they get older but he was playing 80 mins as a battering ram pretty much most of his 20's and that's bound to take it's toll on your body.
