I guess they would've waited to see whether Sky selected the Latics game for coverage first - the Premier League TV games were announced earlier this week though, and Wigan Ath v Norwich unsurprisingly wasn't one of them.

I bet it'll be announced at the game tonight that the Salford one has been bumped to Sunday afternoon.

I was informed just yesterday nothing is changing.

Theyve already proved this year that if its for a game like the WCC where he is given money by the RFL that he can get the ground turned around in time so it would be a bit rich to decide he now cant because the RFL arent paying for the game and its only us and our tenancy agreement. I know that was the other way in that they played the Saturday and we played Sunday but his excuse was always either "the ground cant be turned round in 24 hours" obviously the RFL's money changed his mind there and the other excuse was "the pitch will be affected by Rugby playing before football" now the groundsman and DW himself have both come out and said that the state of the pitch was not the Rugby teams fault so I suppose he now has to sit and take it because he will be made out to be a liar if he doesnt really.

I'd heard it MAY be being moved cos of the footy but the announcer said tonight that the next home game was Salford on Friday 12th August so surely they can't change it now??

I think I may, I'll probably just support whoever wins on Saturday. You wouldn't see a big club like Wire changing the date of a game at late notice!

Been told that Salford don't want to move the game to the Sunday as they've got a team function organised (Old Trafford was mentioned so don't know if it's football or cricket related) and Wigan Ath don't want the game played the day before they play Norwich so it's up to the RFL to decide: Play it at the DW on Sunday or at a neutral venue on the Friday !!

Should we play on a Friday and Latics Saturday then the ground needs turning round in around 14-15 hours.

When Latics played Man Utd the day before the WCC they had 23-24 hours to turn around. THAT is the problem/difference that he is talking about.

The fact it used to happen all the time seems to bypass him, but now that Latics are in the PL and are seen across the World the better condition the pitch is in the better. They also can't then blame Wigan RL which works for us as well.
