| The comment about his Team bonding influence is a good sign. Especially as an experienced player, he could really help when the players need some extra team spirit. Im guessing he will take Phil Baileys place in the leadership team

| He likes a few drinks by the sounds of it and thats not a problem because under this coaching set up he won't go to excess or he won't be in the side.
I'm looking forward to watching him and the other new guys in action.

| You've got to assume Madge knows what he's doing bringing this guy over. Also got to assume he knows how to handle those who like a drink, especially after the stunt he pulled after... Was it stains away?

totally with you there but forgive me for not being made up by stuff like "...I like a beer more than anyone..."
Madge knows him so im happy there, plus if all the squad was made up of was machines that had no personality then that wouldnt be great, but we dont want (in his words) a 'p*sshead' culture coming back.
think this guy is a good rl player and hope he has a positive impact!

| 257 first grade appearances, an ability to back up after big games and I forgot the small number of games he's missed. Jesus, if we took a gamble on the p|$$head that was Tim Smith, I'll put my house on this guy.

Exactly. No problem at all with Finch enjoying himself, he's proven it doesn't interfere with his Rugby. I find it really amusing though that we as a club that's had such tee-totallers as Gary Connolly, Joe Lydon, Andy Gregory etc etc, and some of us are worrying about a player liking a drink?

| this board gets better and better.
if we re-signed guys like tim smith or dennis moran now, given their reputed off field abilities, thered be dozens of you queueing up to say it was a good signing.
yes maguire is doing a fantastic job, yes we are a better side than any post 2000/01 ish, and yes finch has a good nrl and SoO track record but does it not make any of you drop down from being 10/10 in love with the guy to maybe 9.9/10 when he says he loves a beer more than anyone? more than gary connolly? more than lydon? boston? more than green vigo?????? if so then king streets in for a treat!

I have absolutely ZERO issue with any player consuming as much Alcohol as they want PROVIDED it does not affect their performance on the field. 257 first grade games, and extremely positive things said about the guy lead me to feel it's a complete NON ISSUE.
Why should it affect my judgement of Maguire that he's signed a good talented player, just because the guy likes a few scoops. If he had a track record like George Best then fair enough, but I'm pretty sure in that case Maguire would not have signed him.
Players like Willy Mason are the ones who I have a problem with, who disrupt clubs and put in pish poor can't be bothered performances, yet has never come out and said 'I like a beer more than anyone' - I notice how we're not pursuing that type of player.
King Street could be in for the biggest treat ever, and It would not phase me one bit if the players performance is what's required. It's their personal life and I couldn't give a flying one what they do in it provided they stay within the boundaries of the law and don't let their Job suffer.
It's also incredibly insulting that you try to turn it into some sort of blind love in for Maguire and bring up such ridiculous statements about Tim Smith and Denis Moran. And to be fair to both of those players, they were actually decent players that for whatever reason didn't live up to past abilities whilst in a Wigan shirt.

| Rugby League player in drinking shame!
I'm with the majority here. So what if Finch likes the odd pint? It clearly doesn't affect his game too much or he wouldn't have rep honours. After Gleeson's indiscretions earlier in the season it looks like Madge runs a pretty tight ship and nobody is beyond reproach so Finch will have to toe the line

How would you know, though? He may be even better if he reduced his intake.

I'm sorry, i'm personally of the view that if an employee is doing everything I want of them, and meeting all the goals i've set them, then I have bugger all right to criticise them or expect more - you must be a lot of fun to work for.
