| Not sure if anyone else has posted on this but I gather from the dubious source of Eddie and Stevo last night (my newborn baby's mother is not yet allowing me to attend games... apologies if that makes me a category Z fan!) that Pat broke the 1000 points barrier for Wigan last night (though there seems to be some dispute that it might have happened during the semi-final?)
Anyway, well done Pat. He has joined a very prestigious list with some real legends of rugby, but he deserves to be there. Pat has been a model professional for this club and has got better each year.
Like Brett Dallas he will go down as a real fan favourite, an Aussie who played for Wigan like it was his hometown club.
I'm sure all Wigan fans will want to join me in congratulating Pat

I cant say enough about Pat, although his kicking has gone a little west this season, he is still a quality player who looks comfortable @ FB and Wing. Well done Super Pat, I think the first Aussie to reach a 1000 pts as well.

| To be honest while i have always thought he was a solid player, i have never really thought of him as a top class player, but i have to say his form of late has been excellent.
He seems to have more desire to beat a man and also seems more able to use his physical gifts to beat a man, some of his big handoffs of late have been Iroesque.
A great achievement to be the first Aussie to crack the 1000 point barrier.

Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| Who are the others to achieve 1000 points then?
Farrell
Boston
Sullivan
Fairburn
Du Toit?
Edwards
Radlinski?
Botica?

| Fans tend to have a natural pull towards homegrown players because they are of the same mould and normally want the club to win as much as the fans do but we also love nothing better then a guy that comes from thousands of miles away and plays with the passion and pride that matches that of any local guy.
Richards does the club proud year after year and loves it here. The fans think the world of him and whenever he does leave(although i get the feeling it'll be when he retires) he'll get as emotional a send of as that of Brett Dallas.
What a turnaround from 2006

On sky it said 5 English men, 1 south african, a few kiwis, one scot and 3 welshmen? Without looking on the internet.
Scot - Fairburn
Welshmen - Boston and Sullivan
South African - ? I thought it may be Du Toit
Kiwis - Botica and Lance Todd/Cesc Mountford?
Englishmen - Farrell, Edwards, Ashton, Hanley, Offiah.

I would think that the South African would be Fred Griffiths as he was a goalkicker so likely to rack up many points. Jimmy Leytham may be one of the Englishmen.
Pat passed the 1000 points mark in the semi on Saturday I believe as I'm sure he was 3 short of 1000 before the semi (was reported on superleague website before the semi).

Good point.
He's now a firm fans favourite and you have to credit Noble with handing him the kicking duties and playing him both on the wing and at full back when needed which seemed to work wonders for his confidence.
Although its great that he does score so many points what pleases me is his work rate and in particular his work driving the ball out and helping out the forwards which he seemed reluctant to do in his first season.
What a turnaround!

He also did a nice "round the outside" down the wing last night and left Penny standing.

There were moments when Penny looked very uncomfortable last night but in a strange way that may do him good in the long term.
He doesnt quite seem to be getting the luck with the high balls in the corner at the moment but i hope we continue to use this ploy.

Incidentally he broke the record last week not last night.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Thanks. Missed that, though I've had my hands full with a new baby so not as attentive as usual to these boards!
Having said that, for what is a real milestone in the history of the club as well as the player, it doesn't seem to have got enough attention on this board so no harm done.
